  1. Those links give an error message saying "I do no have permission to view the album." Why not just upload whatever photos you are trying to show us here instead of sending us offsite somewhere else? Karina
  2. Epsom leather, that's some good stuff! I am sure this project will be just as awesome as the rest! Karina
  3. I have used them. I have the entire set of the round end punches, the English point end punches, and the chisels in several different sizes, all off Ebay which looks identical to what Springfield is now selling. They are cheap but they do what they are supposed to do. I did have to clean them up and sharpen them as they wouldn't cut air when I got mine, but after a bit of elbow grease, they work just fine. Karina
  4. Glendon, I think you maybe right, those are the same cheap tools that have been floating around Ebay for some time now. The thing is, they are cheaper on Ebay with free shipping. You have to wait nearly a month to get them, then again if you purchase them from Springfield, if you have an issue you can always return them. Karina
  5. I too got mine from harbor freight for $8. As Bob said the do the job at a good price. Karina
  6. We are obviously talking about different things here. The poster said the shoulder was "laid on an oiled product for a few days while moving stock" . I assumed he was referring to an oiled leather. If that was the case, nothing is getting that out. Degalzer, barkeepers friend, nothing!! I found the pictures of what happened to mine that I posted here some time ago. Oil tanned leather on the left, vegtan on the right. Close up of the stain from where the oiled leather was laid on top the vegtan. This is not coming out! Trust me I tried! The stain bleed all the way through to the flesh side. I had to dye the entire sleeve black to cover it. To the OP, if this is not what you were referring to then disregard my post. I guess the best thing for you to do at this point would be to test it for yourself to see how the leather reacts to the dye, and or cleaners. Without knowing exactly what caused the oil stain limits our ability to give definitive answers. Sorry for any confusion. Karina
  7. I am sorry llucas, I only tried it with Black oil dye, I can't say if other color dyes will cover the stain. Karina
  8. I use it a lot and have been for years. Tandy, Springfield, Sailrite, and I am sure other leather suppliers sell it for that exact purpose. Karina
  9. I made that mistake in my shop once. I placed a piece oil tanned leather on a piece of vegtan and went home for the night. When I returned to the shop the following day, the vegtan was stained badly and I had to start that project all over. I was able to salvage the piece as I was able to cover the stain using Fiebing's black oil dye. Never even knew the mistake happened. I posted about it on here a few years ago. I think I may have even uploaded images. Now all oil tanned leather is stored on the opposite side of the shop from the vegtan. Karina
  10. Ha,ha,ha.... I promise you won't have to chase me down Monica. I will post a pick of it as soon as it is finished. I am waiting on the right color zipper to arrive then I will put it all together and get some shots of it so I can post it. Karina Brad, glad I could help, and make sure you let us see the finished product! Karina
  11. Blue Duck and Monica, Thanks and I am glad it was easy to follow. I was worried so instead of just showing the part the original poster was stuck on, I decided to start from the beginning. Glad to see you guys understood perfectly, thanks again, Karina And Monica, once I finish this one I will post pictures. I have a new area set up in the shop just for picture taking now so I have no excuse:)
  12. Okay here are some photos so that hopefully you can get a better idea. I am going to do this with two pieces of leather like in the video. First lay the pattern out on the leather and cut out the pattern. (This bag will be approximately 16"W, 14"H x 5"D) Both pieces cut out. Place the two pieces so that the exterior is facing each other and sew across the bottom as you usually would remembering to back stich a few times to lock the stitch in. Next sew down the sides of the bag remembering to back stitch a few times to lock the stitch in. (I didn't sew down the side of this bag because I still need to sew on a zippered pouch on the front and a pouch inside, so I need the bag open to do that, but you will still clearly see what has to be done to complete the bag.) OK position the bag like this and pinch the two sides closed. A close up of the bag when the bottom and sides are pinched together and ready to sew. Now sew across the bottom side of the bag. I hope this gives you a better idea of how it is done. If I lost you along the way let me know and I will see if I can clarify it for you. Karina
  13. When I do it the way shown in the video, when I sew across the bottom of the bag, I make sure I go through one of the vertical stitch holes to lock that stitch in. When I cut off the ends at the bottom, hit the thread with the lighter and it's not coming loose. What is shown in the video is only one way to make this bag. There are so many more versions online. I personally use one piece of leather now to make this bag. Tomorrow, I will post pics of how I do it to give you a better idea. Maybe that will help. Karina
  14. A market tote is very simple to make. Here is a Youtube video that shows one being made. The bottom portion you are interested in starts around 5:55 mark. Now she is making this with vinyl and home decor fabric but it is the same principle/same steps when making it with leather. I personally make mine with one piece of leather. A tad less stitching that way, but there is nothing wrong with making this bag with two pieces of leather. There are a lot of blogs and videos online of people making market totes and even giving you the pattern they used, (Sure they may be made from fabric but sewing is sewing, you are just using a different medium and with some things like wallets, you have to adjust for the thickness of the leather - but you don't have to worry about that with this market tote) A quick Google search will yield many more results. I am sure once you see it made a few times you will see it is pretty easy actually. Good luck! Karina
  15. Hi Don, Welcome! You failed to attach the image. Karina

  17. A zippered one has not been offered up on the forums as of yet, but search Google for Dopp Kit/Toiletry bag patterns and you will get tons. They are done in fabric but I have made them with leather using those patterns, just need to adjust the pattern a tick for the thickness of the leather you are going to use which isn't much. Plenty of videos on Youtube of them being made as well. Karina
  18. The search feature at the top right is your friend. http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=60062&hl=%2Bdopp+%2Bkit Karina
  19. Kudos to you Tomstas! I agree with that logic 200%. Karina
  20. http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=49891&hl=backpack Here is a free back pack pattern by a member here, Karina
  21. As a Screenprinter and Embroiderer myself, I can tel you that it all depends on the School District. Where I reside, many of the High Schools utilize spirit gear to offset their sports programs and you must get permission. Their are other High Schools in surrounding Districts that couldn't care less. I would error on the side of caution and speak with the Principal or call into the Superintendents office for clarification. Karina
  22. Ole South, I get it, makes perfect sense now. Thanks, Karina
  23. I have the wooden one shown in the second link you posted off Ebay. Got it for $9.95 plus free shipping, had it for about a month now and have yet to use it. It is actually 12oz in weight. (See 1st pic) It is rather light but I don't do much whacking anyway so it is fine for my needs. I took a pic of it taken apart, just curious as to how you would fill this with lead shots. Karina
  24. In her listing on Etsy, the very first line of the description says the card wallet is made from a soft, oiled leather (meaning oil tanned leather). as in it comes from the tannery that way. Tandy has a oiled tanned leather, and I have gotten a side from Maverick Leather before. I am sure there are other suppliers, but in your search look for oil tanned leather sides. Karina I forgot watherhouse leather carries oil tanned leather also.
  25. Nice butterfly! What does the other side look like? Karina
