  1. That wobble could be from the previous owner putting in a new shuttle carrier that has the hole a little lower, like the one in Folkers picture. could you post a picture of the one in the box? I had to weld the hole from the one from college sewing and reposition it for my old 29k1 arm, like folker said you wont find these parts around very easy. the one you refer to in the picture with the solid base 81953 is for the large shuttle version which uses i think the pinons 82029 and 81956 in your parts illustration. i think your 29k4 would have used the 33513 and one of the other two pinons. What i do remember is my 29k12 bottom had the bottom three pinons in it and no short rack.have a look underneath and see whats going on first but be carefull the pinons could fall out.
  2. well spotted Carlos, but it has a washer, works the same,it is only to keep the two disks level. Thanks for the offer anyway. Here is a video of the timing for your 29k Arwel, can someone check to see if the video works as i am a bit of a caveman when it comes to uploading videos! https://www.dropbox.com/s/edbs3kxfl7lpm90/20181216_204005.mp4?dl=0
  3. And here is the position of the shuttle carrier at the same moment. Your shuttle carrier should be in time with your foot when it is at the furthest back position? so what is your needle bar position when this is happening Arwel??
  4. Now you will need to compare this with yours Arwel and see what is different. If the screw is broken on the outer cam, i usually get them out by drilling a smaller hole in the middle and then hammer a flat head screwdriver in the hole and turn with that. The other way is screw extractors. You have to be careful when drilling, it can wander off sometimes and ruin the outer thread. In the picture the foot is leaning back (furthest back position).
  5. Here are a few pictures of my old 29k1/12 frankenstein which is the same year on the bottom and a little younger on top I have tried to put it in the same position for reference...
  6. Yes also agree with mr 29k I would keep the white clone, it is a long arm and probably has a bigger bobbin. I don´t know what you mean by the spinning of the foot?? both of them turn º360??
  7. If you add a small table to the cylinder arm, then you basically turn it into a flatbed, but you can not turn the flat bed into a cylinder arm.
  8. No offense, but they must be taking psychotropic pancakes for breakfast with these prices!!! Used Parts!!!
  9. I think many moons ago some saddle makers in the UK used what they had on hand which was lead. they melted it into a slab and used that for punching. Once it got a bit beaten up they just remelted it and you had it new again. it also seems not to affect the edge of the tool. There is actually a video somewhere i think about a tour of the walsall saddlery museum and in the process of making a strap, the guy punches the holes on one of these lead slabs.
  10. Cymro, it would help if you could send a short video or some pictures of your 29k Trex version cycling over??
  11. Hi there, does not look like it is a walking foot machine and it was made to sew cloth. system DBx1, 16x257, 1738 seems to be the needles they use. All the best. http://dixiesewingmachine.tzo.com/MANUALS/SINGERPARTS1/31-15 16 19 20 22 24 27 32.pdf
  12. Yes it looks like a 18-2 from the throat plate and like you said the drop feed on the left side. I have one in a box somewhere as i have little space at the moment and looks just the same. The only problem is if you wanted to use it with a treadle you would need the original as it is for left hand only?
  13. 1000 made in May 1919, Have a look down the list for the class 18 and the amount made? this is only with the letter g, then look for ones with another letter before the serial number, i am sure there are more.
  14. Can you tell us the number on the needle plate? Here is a link for the parts list. http://dixiesewingmachine.tzo.com/MANUALS/SINGERPARTS/18-1 - 18-18.pdf
  15. Yes the class 18- is left handed and were used for sewing the vamps of shoes. the class 17- is the right hand version and were made probably until 1980´s. They are industrial machines for light to medium leather the same as the 29k which is also for light to medium leather. The 29k is a shoe patcher, for repairing shoes and boots etc.. Eres Español Carlos?? hay muchos 18´s en españa??
  16. G- 7042401 7043400 18 1000 May 13 1919 This is your S/N, class type -18, units made (1000) and the month and year it was made May 13 1919 Yes as Folker said it is a Singer 18- which shares some parts with the 17-. you might find some parts here.http://www.ebaystores.com/SHARP-SEWING-SUPPLIES__W0QQ_sacatZLKQ51onlineQQ_sidZ304381499?submit.x=73&submit.y=9&LH_TitleDesc=1&_nkw=singer& the needle bar should be the same as the 17. the chinese roller feet do not work very well with this as they are not centered. you would have to tinker with them. If i can remember the shuttle is the same for the 18 and the 17 also.
  17. The only problem i see (like many things these days) is that it looks as if we are going backwards instead of forwards, the good thing was having the wheel in front of you which was comfortable but the only thing they have done now is to put a handle on the flywheel which is facing backwards!! That to me is not comfortable for sewing, especially if you have short arms
  18. Hi Sark9, Here is the parts manual so you can see how the wheel is mounted.http://leatherworker.net/forum/topic/76114-singer-45k68/?tab=comments#comment-502500
  19. Hi Matt, Could you send a few pictures of the 45k for us pig iron junkies?
  20. Hi Harry, just saw your post. Folker is right about the colour, in 1914 it was black then later there were two tone machines, probably about the 1939-40. Also when restoring the badge and plate on a machine i would first bend the pins straight again from the inside and reuse them afterwards, they have a distinctive pattern on them which is similar to a flower. the ones on your machine have been replaced with smooth headed ones. I think after the two tone it was the crinkle finish then the all grey hammerite then the light blue?? not 100% sure.
  21. Great stuff Chris, well done jazz juice. With you being a double bass player and liking REAL jazz "not smooth elevator music" I am sure you like Charles Mingus?? Love that album "The Black Saint and the Sinner Lady" Regards Jimi.
  22. I maybe wrong but Looks like there is no top grain leather there?
