  1. That is a great, practical idea! I would have found that very useful in my days as a business traveller.
  2. Nice little bag. You did a great job.
  3. Looks great. Neat and tidy & it looks like a good design. What did you use for a finish?
  4. Excellent! Looking forward to seeing more of your work. Thanks for sharing!
  5. Very nice. I like how you paid attention and took care with the finer details of the sheath. The creasing on the strap and hole for the stud are perfect. Stitching and the arrowhead stamp pattern is excellent, also. The lighter colour works really well with the handle of the knife. Thanks for sharing.
  6. JLS Leather, a regular poster on this forum, has several, simple, wallet/case patterns (free) on his website. ByNelson's advice to start small is very good.
  7. I would start by buying three books: - the Leatherworking Handbook by Valerie Michaels (she guides you through projects, step by step, starting with simple projects, leading up to advanced projects. - the Art of Making leather Cases: Volumes 1 and 2 - perhaps three, later on. Start with the stitching methods in Michael's book. All the case making techniques you will need are covered in Stohlman's books. Also, you tube has gobs of info: check out Leodis Leather and Nigel Armitage - lots more, but sometimes it is tough to sort out the good stuff from bad. Tools: buy quality, for sure.
  8. Yup, different design for sure ... just wanted to show that stitch holding down the top piece.
  9. I haven't been around much during the past couple of years but I must say that I have always appreciated your work. I really like the design of both bags and do appreciate your desire to get into hand stitching. Sean Dalgetti at Tundra Leather (Hamilton) is an amazing leatherworker and could really help you with tips along the way. Looking at the small bag, I would recommend that rather than ending your stitch line before the opening, go up and around the top with both threads which essentially closes the two pieces of leather together. I just might try to make one up, myself! Thanks for sharing!
  10. Wow! That is absolutely amazing! Attention to detail everywhere I look. ( from Ontario, eah? Cool)
  11. I bet your son will be really proud to use it! I really like the pen holder slot ... great idea!
  12. I think it looks good. Thanks for sharing.
  13. Looks great! How many SPI is that?
  14. Nice, clean work. You did a great job with the stitching and the edges look good as well.
  15. I have been away from the leather shop for two years but have just started to get back it. Thought I would bump my belt game up a bit. Here it is. All hand stitched with a stitched-on buckle. It's made with 9oz. belting. I used veg for the black fold-over.
  16. Good job! The edges really did turn out nice and the stitching looks good too! Stitching that buckle on, the traditional way and finishing the edges like you did, demonstrates your desire to produce work with a focus on hand-made craftsmanship. Thanks for sharing!
  17. Sharkeyfinn, Looks great! Just curious about the back side of where you turned the leather over to affix the buckle. How did you manage that?
  18. Beautiful sheath ... The knife is amazing!
