Go to a Head Stone maker and ask for a waste piece. The one I have is 5 inches thick and it is the best for setting stamping or skiving. You can also go to a counter top place and get scrap I have gotten both for free.

Question about letter codes in a Pfaff CLPMN
purplefox66 replied to Tirediron's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
Do yourself a favor and get a speed reducer. With the speed reducer and a servo motor you have more torque and even slower and more controlled sewing. -
I loved the one I got in the 70,s when I first started leather craft but then years ago I found leather wranglers and that is by far the best blade I have ever used.

Cobra 26 thread binding around bobbin shuttle.
purplefox66 replied to bdeming's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
Take the bobbin out. There is thread around the latch that holds the bobbin in place. Do that and your problem is solved. -
A speed reducer is your friend it adds torque and it will reduce the speed more. Leather machine company or Toledo industrial sewing machines.

A speed reducer is always a good thing to have. With a speed reducer you will have much more torque to punch thru thick leather

I am in the process of buying a almost new Pfaff 145 h4 from a friend. My question is what is the max size of thread can a 145 h4 handle. I know that it uses a 190 needle system but I'm not sure where to buy needles for it and also bobbins. Any help is very much appreciated.
