Golf Scorecard Holder
garypl replied to flhx06's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
Looks very nice! How did you finish the edges? Gary -
Same thoughts as the other posters - we all make mistakes and one of the skills we learn is how to cover up the small mistakes so they are not noticeable! I still have quite a few items in my reject bin that remind me of past mistakes so hopefully I do not repeat them. Gary

Looks great! Did you form the front with a wood block? Gary -
I ordered a Pull Cut knife #1. Guess I should check in with Terry. Not as long a wait as the two Randall #14 knives I ordered from Randall Knives in Orlando in June & September 2014 - I just received notice that the first one is scheduled for completion in November! The wait is now up to 6 years for a new order. Gary

I ordered a knife from Terry last December - hope my number will be coming up soon! Gary

This sounds interesting Wiz - I will give it a try! Gary

I replaced the grease in my 206RB-4 - used wheel bearing grease because that’s what I had on hand. Gary

Brian, I used the concave surface of my rivet setter anvil. This only works with conchos that are fairly smooth. I don’t use conchos very often, but I have also used epoxy on the concho and rivet cap if the concho surface is not smooth enough to hit it hard enough to really set the rivet cap. I have never used conchos that have stones or other really bumpy surfaces. Gary

I back stitch 3 stitches at the beginning and end... Gary

All the conches I have bought came with the dome tops and I set them like standard rivets. Gary

I would just call Leather Machine Company and ask them about the needles - they sold them to you and they must have had a reason for selecting these needles. There are many types of needles available - here is a link showing types of points: https://www.groz-beckert.com/mm/media/en/web/pdf/Point_styles_for_leather_processing.pdf Gary

Thanks for sharing the stamping process - we all learn when we share ideas! Gary

I use a free program called Irfanview - very easy to resize pics on your computer. If you want to resize on your phone or tablet try the app named Image Size. It’s free if you want to look at ads or you can pay for not getting ads. Gary

Welcome to the forum - I like the backgrounding you did - looks kind of like bubbles! Gary

Mid Dark Edge Dying
garypl replied to superpacker's topic in Dyes, Antiques, Stains, Glues, Waxes, Finishes and Conditioners.
I dip my roller brush into the paint - seems to me the paint would not roll out onto the brass head evenly, and like Ferg said, I worry it would drip or create a mess. Gary -
I have not used Edge Kote, normally use Giardini edge paints and have never had a problem with paint coming off. I use a roller pen to apply multiple coats, sanding between coats to even the surface and give the next coat a slightly rougher surface for better adherence. maybe you just applied it too heavily? Gary

Welcome to the forum Mary! Look forward to seeing your projects. Gary

How about drilling holes at an angle in a piece of 2 x 4 and then screw it to the pegboard? Slip your stamps into the holes. Gary

I agree with Mike - I think Giardini makes great products! Gary

I have the same problem finding time to work on projects. It also takes me a long time to finish projects because of work commitments. If I’m thinking about my other business I can’t concentrate on leatherworking and that’s when I start making mistakes.- 9 replies

Hi John - Welcome to the forum! Those are some nice holsters you posted. The Bersa looks like it is sticking out a bit more than I would like, but if it’s secure it’s just a matter of taste! Look forward to seeing more of your projects. Gary

When you amaze yourself
garypl replied to Madmax500000's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
Max - the last photo shows the rear of the case and I am curious how you stitched it to the sides. You did nic3 lace work on the front - did you bevel the edges on the rear to stitch them? Any glue used on the joints? Thanks again for sharing! Gary
