Where To Find Dyed Leather For Belts
Weaver Leather Supply replied to bushpilotmexico's topic in All About Leather
We still have finished double shoulders in solid colors in 8/9oz and finished double backs in the same colors in 9/10. As well as English Bridle in colors in 9/10 and 12/13. Let me know specifically what you are looking for and i will try to help you out. Why dont you think our shoulders are a good fit? We also now have a water buffalo option that is a nice leather for a better price. These are in single bends. -
Are you looking for a glossy finish or dull/matte?

We sell a lot of our Chahin Latigo, it is a true latigo, being a chrome veg re-tan. Most customers are very happy with it, and it weathers very well having some chrome in it. We call it a 9/11, which should be the same as what others are calling 10/12. We have burgundy, black, yellow, and brown. If you want a cutting send me a PM.

Where To Purchase American Made Hardware Online?
Weaver Leather Supply replied to Heath Herring's topic in Resources
Most of our hardware is imported (as is basically everyone's). It is hard to even find hardware made in the US anymore. I get requests for it and its tough to find. Then most people don't want to pay for it in the end anyway. Most of our 104 tubular rivets (all but the SS I believe) are made in the USA. Our copper and brass rivets and burrs are also made in the US, actually at a local machine shop right down the road. Hillside does have a brass foundry on site, I don't believe they manufacture a lot of hardware anymore, but they will do it on request. Most of the hardware they sell is imported as well. Any specific questions on any of our hardware let me know via PM and I will try to get answers to you. -
We have them for $0.70 each retail price. www.weaverleathersupply.com Search C1087 for that specific one...or we have another longer style as well. If you have a wholesale account with us they are even priced better.

Big Sioux Saddlery seems to have a pretty good answer in my opinion. Depending on what the kind of leather it is most heavy Veg is not struck through. Harness and bridle typically are not unless specified or special order...skirting normally is. I don't know why but from what I have dealt with that is the norm. As far as the loose flesh on the back side, normal if down in the belly, flank, and shoulder pockets. If up in the back and bend then you shouldn't be seeing that. That's just a poor job at the tannery. Did you keep it?

I don't know the weight of the leather you are wanting to make the sleigh bell strap, we would have 1-1/4" belt blanks out of 9/10oz English bridle in black, brown, and chestnut that would work as a strap, just make sure you get the plain, non punched version. Art linked the pins above for the #120 bells on the retail site. The cheaper plated bell #115 options attach with a pop rivet. We will have the same color English bridle options in 12/13oz available retail and wholesale very soon. PM me if you have any specific questions.

If you have any questions on either of Weaver's skivers shoot me a PM. Neither of ours are completely made in the USA. They are both assembled locally and tested at Weaver, and the blades are both made at a local machine shop, the blades on these come super sharp but covered in a rubberized coating you need to use a few times to wear off before it works like it should. The castings are imported on either option. The link to S&D Trading has better prices then we offer retail ourselves. I am not sure if you are able to buy wholesale or not, if so let me know and we can get you setup.

We offer chrome oil tan leathers as well. Go to www.weaverleathersupply.com and check out our "Chap Leather" selection. Most of those are oil tan. Our 09-1006S-BR Bark Brown side would be a good fit for what you are looking for. PM me for wholesale account information or if you would like for me to send you a sample. You didn't mention a weight, but that side would be a 5/6oz, and we offer a very similar color in 6/7. Let me know if you have any questions.

Tandy Solid Brass Chicago Screws Not So Solid
Weaver Leather Supply replied to aaron61032's topic in Hardware and Accessories
Thanks to those that recommended Weaver! We do offer Solid Brass screws, and they are definitely brass. You can buy retail at www.weaverleathersupply.com or PM me for wholesale account information. Make sure to select the item with "P" in the item number for Plain. The others are floral. As always, free shipping within the US for orders of $50 or more. -
We have that roller buckle both in single tongue and 2 tongue in 4" wide. You can buy retail at www.weaverleathersupply.com or PM me for wholesale account information. Retail price is $2.20 each. Item # to search for is 00100-NP-2-4. If you just search for 00100-NP you will pull up the different size offerings and both single and double tongue. Let me know if you have any questions once you get in and look around.

Splitting would obviously be the easiest. But I bet you could sand it. If you have an orbital palm sander or something similar I would try it and I bet it would smooth off the loose flesh.
-
If your using natural tooling leather it should be clean on the back. Neither pic of yours looks that nice, you don't want the fuzz. The natural strap from any reputable tannery should be split clean on the back. Skirting can look more like your second picture in areas as its full thickness. You can special order moss/pasted back from Hermann Oak which will be almost like a clear finish. If you want a drum dyed leather, you want something specifically with a finished back for clean flesh. We stock both Hermann Oak and Chahin strap, both will be split clean on the flesh sides.

Leather For Wallets - Not Chromexcel
Weaver Leather Supply replied to Aidanforsyth0's topic in Suppliers
It is leather from Chahin Tannery. Definitely not hand curried true English bridle, nor do we claim it to be. However it is a well stuffed leather, has a nice feel, and is easier to get than Sedgwick leather. -
Leather For Wallets - Not Chromexcel
Weaver Leather Supply replied to Aidanforsyth0's topic in Suppliers
We have a 3-4oz veg tan English bridle we are stocking in multiple colors now for wallets and personal accessories. Is that too heavy or is that the weight you are looking for? PM me for more details. -
We are still shipping under the flat rate program. However, we are considering a new freight program for Supply next year. There are several possibilities in discussion, but no firm changes yet. Sorry we lost you as a customer dirtclod, I never like hearing that.
