  1. Ok yet another leather working post that is making me hungry! Nice work all round again.
  2. Pass it on for him.
  3. On a related topic: I have learned that you can never make anyone change their mind until... they decide to change their mind.
  4. Is that a young Camaron Diaz? Well done who ever it is!
  5. Friends of mine who are ex military say that they disliked kydex as it was actually rather susceptible to prolonged direct sunlight and the heat and lost retention. Some lost side arms as a result. Mind you they were in Afghanistan but... that was his report on kydex. Given a choice they would take well made gunleather. Click (kydex and other plastics) versus squeak (leather) is an ongoing debate of personal preference and some technical performance and thus now we see more kydex leather hybrids with kydex where it properties are best and leather were leather is best. I'm a squeak guy obviously.... am not of the tacti-cool taste camp but to each their own.
  6. I believe I could live on Pizza....
  7. That has a really appealing simplicity to it and well executed. What do you use as a resist agent?
  8. OK this is dangerous.... thanks though.
  9. wow I would like to see a picture of an original motorized one.
  10. And it seems the camera is causing that problem more frequently and to a greater degree for some reason. I may need a new camera. Thanks for the comments folks. Yes Mutt we are a different deal here and we are about to perhaps get more regulatory restrictions on legal gun ownership. However, the Government received an e-petition with about 86K signatures I believe which they say is the largest e-petition in our history.
  11. Yes I have heard they are wobbley at speed so even with the clutch I would build a reducer as I have on my 95K.
  12. Thanks Singermania for the kind offer. I am a short drive from Aaron Martin Harness and they are all over these machines since they were the mainstay of the Mennonite harness industry until recently when I hear they have switched to more modern machines. There is also a fella Henry on the Forum who is a short drive from me and they all have parts such as bobbins (not too expensive) and shuttles (very expensive) plus various springs and plates etc. Ivan Martin said I can drop it with them and they will give it a once over. I am also close to an Amish harness maker and will ask them if they are familiar and can hep with this machine. In place of the fly wheel fro now will go either a servo or the old clutch off my 335... or I may crank for a while to get some exercise! An I have a fella checking his "shed" for a winder.
  13. Made for an airgunning friend to carry his favourite tool and light both of which had worn through several nylon jobs. Sadly he is still waiting for the matching belt.... I used to make more the folded "box" cases and then got into the molding but there is something to be said for this look as well I think...certainly harder to pattern!
  14. As always great work. And a great movie to work through all the gun and blade leather....
  15. Made for a buddy who hikes in Algonquin and while we cant carry fro self protection even from wildlife he carried a blank gun to make as much noise as he could to hopefully scare the beast away. Tanker for easy access and lots of adjustment to under or over his warm gear or T-shirt etc. And as a small disclaimer...my gut is sticking out because of how I had to hold the camera... really.
  16. More food cutting sheaths and now I want pizza! Nice idea and well done.
  17. Do you use the STP additive called "Oil Treatment" or the " 4-cylinder Oil Treatment"? Thank for all the help fellas, Murray
  18. I believe Will may have mase the orogonals foe the movies He makes gunleather for Hollywood
  19. Is there a trade name for synthetic chain spray? What viscosity motor oil 20W 10W etc? And finally... my singer manual calls for "singer gear grease" in the gear box. Is it a current specific OEM product or is there an equivelent as we have discussed above?
  20. Agreed on the 1871's but Vaqueros are not shabby either!
  21. Makes very good mechanical sense and I will keep this in mind for all my machines. When I bought the 335 it came with a litre of purpose made "sewing machine oil" which I understand has to do with it properties such that it doesn't stain the material. Would Moly Grease work as well as lithium grease?
  22. For light leather (chrome tan? upholstery or garment leather?) there are ready made half round (or the classic zig zig) pinking shears available in various sizes. For the other stuff as I above I grind down full round punches.
  23. While the quick draw was not really a common part of the old west most "cowboy" gun carriers did so more for personal protection from wild life some of which can do damage very quickly so they needed speedy access to their protective weapons. And while not duelling still there was an element of protection from other armed persons such as robbers and ambushers, card cheaters! etc.... Packing Iron is a great book if you find a copy to walk through the evolution of the holster as is Bianchi's Blue Steel and Gunleather though it focuses less on the old times and more on "modern" gunleather... still he is (was?) a real student of holster history and its a good read.
  24. A budding apprentice. I hope he isnt so hard on himself (and a Tandy kit) that he stops wanting to do more and keep trying.
