  1. Just keep at it. Also, the quality of the burnishing depends heavily on the quality of leather. Better veg better edge. There are a few things you can do to help lesser quality leather along. An extremely sharp knife leaves less burrs. Sanding. Sometimes a bic lighter is your friend. And some saddle soap with a canvas rag. Keep having fun.
  2. Here ya go! They were hiding on the last page. Good to see you back around. Make anything interesting lately?
  3. Have you tried talking with a jeweler? It's my guess that something that specific is going to be as hard to find as retail available shoe parts. That is like pulling hen's teeth.
  4. I haven't run across any. I am guess you have already searched the stone crafting side of the market as well?
  5. @fredk those look similar to the same thing, but, they are offset by 19mm or 3/4". Usually the tape measure clips are only offset by 4mm or an 1/8". This would probably cause the tape to really stand off the hip. I have been searching for these items as well off and on for awhile. I am betting that a piece of kydex could be used in place of the steel. I haven't ever worked with kydex but I imagine it would be a strong enough option.
  6. One of the wood working supply places had the gravity style dispensers for like 12 bucks awhile back. But, I can't remember which one.
  7. Nice job. I'm sure she loved it.
  8. Welcome aboard to you both.
  9. Part of setting New Year resolutions is that they are supposed to be achievable goals. You ma'am, have asked for the impossible.
  10. I remember seeing you write about your angle guide before. Again. Awesome job. (Now I'm gonna scroll back up and drool over it once more)
  11. You may have better luck with downsized pictures posted on this site. Lots of folks won't follow a link here by a newer member. It's just how it is here. Also forum rules call for a price. Just trying to help.
  12. You have just saved a ton of money. I didn't find this site until I had spent some real money at Tandy. Think of Tandy as Walmart, except expensive. Better everything is available elsewhere for less. Tandy is more expensive on everything when comparing side by side with someone else. I will buy hardware or cheap chrome tanned leathers from them , when they are on sale or clearance. And it is nice to have them down the street, but for the most part I go elsewhere. Dig into this site, soak it all in. Then check out some of the advertisers on the banner ads.
  13. I never saw one look so clean. It's a shame to have to dye it black.
  14. Good job.
  15. Welcome aboard. I used to live in Boyd.
  16. What style garments are we looking at?
  17. Did you think about just approaching the client with a mahogany version? My guess is it's something in or on the leather.
  18. What part of Oregon are you in? I got to work on wind turbines in Arlington. I also got to do some remodeling in Depot Bay for a friend 2 years ago. When I worked on the turbines I stayed in the Dalles. I really enjoyed Hood River in the fall and spring.
  19. Welcome, looks like you might have to start answering some questions. Your stuff looks great .
  20. Fool Proof? You don't know is very well. We can botch days of work in a millisecond. If this is a Diesel Punk pattern you may want to mark thru the pattern. I watched one of his videos and Tony's stuff does kind of go together differently than what I'm used too. If not, carry on and make your own lines.
