    A Well Balanced Family

The acrylics I use are just water based (Angelus paints). I add water to them if I want them to flow more or soak into the leather, and can add layers on top of them to get more vibrant colors. Like red on top of white to make the red pop, etc. Like the humor. and the tooling! YinTx
  2. Looks awesome! Had my Bells Palsey in Elementary... along with the requisite jokes and sideways looks one gets at that age to go along with it. Not fun, hope you get over it soon. YinTx
  3. I did manage to go to the show impromptu. Quite a few vendors at the tradeshow, managed a class at the last minute. It was a good event. Met Mr. Don Gonzalez, and Ms. Lisa Sorrell, which I am sure was awkward for both of them. But I enjoyed it tho! Both very kind, intelligent, and informative. Will need to spend more time at a future show, was only able to drive up for about 3/4 of a day worth of stuff out of the entire week they were there. Did not see Mr. Beard, hopefully he gets around to doing more in the future. YinTx
  4. Nice! I'll be checking out the video, also. YinTx Edit to say, watched the video. That bound edge was extra extra work. Close up vids are difficult, well done. Thanks for sharing!
  5. Unreal. I've tried the wolf in the moon, i think it's in the bin. Yours is excellent! YinTx

you're not kidding there. Nice work, also! YinTx
  7. Thanks! I was concerned the voice might be a detriment, glad to hear it was not. Working on Part 3, but I am retaining my title as world's slowest... editing down hours of video to something short and sweet takes some doing I am learning. YinTx
  8. Anyone there/going? Does anyone know if Robert Beard will have a booth there? YinTx
  9. The design is quite similar to the piece in my avatar! Nice work. I still have mine, not sure what to do with it. Doesn't have a snap or a belt loop. Maybe I'll put those on there and put it to use some how! YinTx
  10. Wow, that's a huge piece, was not expecting that! Fantastic work. And thanks for the pointers for anyone making something similar. YinTx
  11. Thank you! Good luck with putting together your videos. I have part 3 filmed, but still need to take the time to sit down and properly edit it. YinTx
  12. For wrapping a binding around a seam as you are stitching. YinTx
  13. Thank you all for the previous comments and suggestions. I hope you will be able to notice that I have been able to implement a few of them, and will try to add more suggestions as I progress. Still open to comments and suggestions! YinTx
  14. Thanks. Part 2 is out. I don't claim to be an expert, just another guy doing things a tad differently. YinTx
  15. Figure carving, floral carving, basket weaving, coloring, so many skills and techniques in a single piece of work! Fantastic! YinTx
  16. Nice! I keep thinking if I did this it would not look anything like the original design, because I'd be all perfectionist on it and rework the pattern to get the lines "right", and tool it all different, then be upset it doesn't look anything like it did in the movie, lol. YinTx
  17. I'll try to find a decent one... Headset does have a move-able microphone, has a little foam piece also, but really not top quality, and prolly 15+ years old. I'll be looking for a new one... until then I'll try to get it to work better. That is top notch advice, right there, lol! I did mention ever so fast that the tracing was covered in tape... but yah, if someone missed it they'd be learning the hard way. Regarding all the details you suggest bringing into the information portion of a video, I like it. If I find that there is a lot of desire for that kind of knowledge going forward, I'll start to include it. At first I am afraid of putting so much in there that it becomes a 5 hour video that no one wants to see, and then the risk that there is so little info that again, no one wants to see it! I have started a video on just tools, that way I can refer to it as I am going and not have to discuss knives each time I do a carving, etc. I hope that works well, time will tell. YinTx
  18. Yeah, I hope I'm not that slow! But he does have over 18,000 views on a 5+ hour video... YinTx
  19. waaaaaiiittt a minute there. I resemble both comments! Prolly talk to slow, and watch all those youtube videos at 2x whenever I can! Hard to know what is difficult or intricate to others, but if I find it important I tend to do some voiceover to explain what happened. I think with time I may discover more and more what folks want to see more of. Or less of! Perhaps undeserving, but thank you much! YinTx
  20. I do appreciate it. I'll work my way through the kinks more and more as I go along, just thought I'd give it a go and see how it goes for me. I'll consider all the suggestions and add them in wherever I can. I've already done some more video work, so I won't be able to add in everything right away, but with time I think they'll continue to improve. You are right about keeping folks attention! the analytics show where folks drop off, and when they stay on. Very interesting thing to look at. YinTx
  21. Heheh yeah, I'll probably be asking myself both of those questions, and regret the can of worms myself. I may only ever do this one series, I may do many, just depends on the reception. I think part of it is to give leatherworkers a different take, my antiquing process and tooling is a bit different I think. Also, to give my work a bit more of a wider audience, very few folks see what I do or how it is done. Even friends that know me don't know really what I am doing. YinTx
  22. Yes, many hours for me. In fact, probably 8 hours trying to figure it all out for each video. I expect to get much faster as I move along. I'll try to even out the music volume some. Thanks for the compliment! YinTx
  23. Thank you. I tried to keep it as short as I could, will focus more on that for the next ones. I may make separate videos for casing solution, we'll see. Just water does work, btw! The painters tape will stick some to cased leather, but not wet leather. I usually put it on afterwards, it gets more aggressive after tooling, so you have to work a bit to get it off. It will come off easier than regular tape for sure tho. YinTx
  24. @billybopp, thank you for the suggestion. I will look for something of that nature. I don't really have a microphone, so I may look for something better along that line also, just using an old headset I have. I thought about putting a clock when I first started, but realized that I have a lot of interruptions during the work, so the time would not be very representative. I may get a timer, presuming I actually remember to turn it on and off! Thanks for the feedback and suggestions! YinTx
