  4. That is a piece of art. Colors are awesome, tooling looks great from the photos. A whole lot of work in all that! Congrats on getting it done, and in time for Christmas! YinTx

  8. If ya can't tell it ain't a pancake.... Anyhow, yeah, I am sure there'd be interest. YinTx
  9. Oofah! That's sharp! Did you use anything on the back of the alligator, or just use it unlined? What weight was it? YinTx
  10. I've been itching to make a replacement sheath for mine, but haven't felt the inspiration hit me on the exact design I'd like to do. Yours came out nice! YinTx
  11. Nice work Those thumb breaks are on the opposite side of most holsters, aren't they? Does it work well on the outside? YinTx
  12. Thank you. As I mentioned, it is a Don Gonzales pattern that I modified, I liked it as well, enough to tool it out! YinTx
  13. Not too sure myself. I've wanted to do the same, but the book moves in the cover when you open/close it. I think some of the other method may be better, maybe something more attached to the book instead of the cover. Yep. Actually have some of the same frustrations that a lot of others have, so I mix up my own to get a much more subtle result that I can apply only to the areas I want, instead of the whole piece. Now, what to do with all the jars and tubs of antique I have left over.... Thanks much! Glad you like to see my stuff, I enjoy sharing it. Thanks for the compliment! YinTx
  14. Thanks! Appreciate it! YinTx
  15. It's a color I mixed up myself, trying to get a close to natural look. Surprised you weren't unhappy about the "ant-streak!" There is some camo stamping around the perimeter of the cross, and considering I am trying to make a low cost cover, I spent as little time as possible to get semi decent tooling. I agree, it could have been smoothed out a bit more for my preference, and the angle really does catch the light wrong and highlight the issue. Glad you like it otherwise! Thank you. Honestly, spent a lot more time on the border than I did on the cross and spine. It is all beveled, no cutting. Might consider carving it in next time to help out with the definition. This was only 5-6 oz leather, and I didn't want to compromise the strength at all. Here's a close up of a corner...don't mind my lack of experience causing the machine stitching to be a bit out of whack.. Appreciate it! I agree... now if I could only get some others to agree enough to send me their hard earned $$ for one of these covers, I'd be a happy guy! I took it to a market last weekend, and everyone ooohed and aaaahed, but it seems $125 is still a bit too much, so I still own it. YinTx
  16. Finished up another Bible Cover, kinda like the way this came out. Still need to get the machine stitching down pat tho... Used Wickett and Craig leather this time around. YinTx
  17. Trying to improve each time. If I recall, that was an Angelus color, Winetone. Tried to get close to the tumbler color. YinTx
  18. So, I left the large needle in there, and stepped the thread down to 138 top 90 bottom. Stitched the next bible cover, and lo, knots akimbo. Thread path is fine, coming off the spool fine, nothing that should have been interfering with the tension that I could find, but there it is. Every other stitch the knot is on the bottom. And aren't these ginormous holes for the thread? What am I doing wrong this time, lol?
  19. Right? Not sure why I have to compete with that, but in the customer's mind, I do. Thanks. I actually have an entire thread on this for the machine I used to do this work, including the video you mentioned. @Uwe's contributions have been very useful. YinTx machine thread:
  20. Used a Don Gonzales tooling pattern, modified and adapted for the shape of the tumbler. YinTx
