  1. Finally got around to getting the video and watched it this evening and must say that is really interesting and worth the money. I must say it opened up many new avenues to leather working. I assume this is the only video but if there are any more available does anyone know? Thanks.
  2. HAHA I looked at the pic before I read the heading and was trying to figure out what you were trying to accomplish with the stamping. Great project and sounds like your getting her started early. That is a outstanding looking knife.
  3. You do some very cool work. I have browsed your etsy store and checked out our helms and mask and whatnot and allways impressed. Good job.
  4. Thats pretty cool. Good job.
  5. Haha great work Tom. As far as the grey areas are you talking about after you put on the aussie wax you get greyish looking areas. I know when I use it I gotta let it dry for a day or so then it buffs out nicely and leaves a mellow sheen to it.
  6. Excellent carving and dyeing. Really like. Great pictures too.
  7. His forum name is Leerworker, finally found the thread down in the forum admin and stuff folder in the billy2shoes thread down there.
  8. Look at the color of the tail of the small white plane.
  9. Im sorry Im in idiot, the seat looks great, what I was commenting on was the lacing. I wanted to say mexican round braid or whatever its called. I just like that round effect of that type of lacing. I dont know why I said basketweave, your seat covering looks great as is. As far as basket weave it takes a few tries but you can get ahang of it after a little practice.
  10. I think you did pretty good. I like the color alot, very good naturel brown that looks good. For your first try at oak leaves that is not bad at all. Mine were far flatter and less detailed when I tried them. Keep practicing and they will look better and better as you go along. As with any project you can improve with your technique and as you get more experience you will learn what works and what doesnt. Your off to a great start just keep doing it and it should do nothing but get better.
  11. Looks great so far. Interesting paint also, may have to try that out.
  12. They look fantastic, I like that lacing around the edge, gotta try that sometime. That first knife is really nice looking. Looks like it deserves one of your sheaths.
  13. That looks really good HOG. I think maybe a basketweave would make it look a tad better just in the lacing department but over all looks really good IMHO. Also best of all it fits the bike very well.
  14. Hey Ed what is barenia leather, I looked it up and have scene several different types (atleast looked that way to me) of leather that was called that but nothing to describe what it actually was.
  15. Nice looking belt, these thick handsewn guys are really nice things to have. I havnt tried mine with my gun yet but will soon. Im thinking it will be a much improvement over my other flimsy storebought guy. Wanted to say also that your stitching looks fantastic. Great job.
  16. Congrats man, this is my second and honestly the first was a real pain to sew but it got easier with the second. Sure you could be done in 10min probably (guessing) but ahh well, probably took me about 2 hours of stitching maybe a tad more (Im pretty slow) but I like the end result. One of these days Ill get a machine. Thanks for the compliments Bree and Badger.
  17. You are correct, I didnt even think about that stuff till I was reading a how to thread in the saddle section on making straps. Totally didnt even think about it while making the belt. Will be something I hopefully will remember for my next projects. Tom its not that exciting unfortenatly Thanks everyone for the nice compliments.
  18. Thanks guys, just need to look harder next time,
  19. Impressive as allways, those fine lines are amazing.
  20. OK so I got the 3/8 webbing narrowed down but now I am looking for some of the small 3/8 slides and buckles and what not that are used on alot of the camera straps. I looked thru ohiobag and didnt see anything smaller then 1/2". Thanks for any help.
  21. Thanks Jbird, you still hanging in there I hope.
  22. Very nice pictures yaklady, I wouldnt worry as much about them cute little black bears as long as you dont get between mama and baby, its the darn mountain lions that will scare the .... out of ya. Theres only one time a animal has made the hair on the back of my neck stand up before I saw it and that was a mountain lion.
  23. I could be totally wrong but those look to be hand stitched. I dont know how you will get that same look with a cheap machine. Who did you get the pics from, I cant make out the makers mark on everything. You could try to ask them what they use to stitch there straps with. Heck they may even be a member here.
  24. THanks, I think it was either that or the Divi divi or whatever its called. I dont know too much about it but I remember everyone that I talked to that used the tree for both leather and for coloring knife handles and such said when it was wet it kind of stunk like urine lol. Now if I just had a worth while memory I would be set.
