  1. Thank you Bob. I thought that's what he's been referring to but wasn't certain. I'm using my bonefold quite often and just made me two out of chestnut for my dremel, but would like to get a few deer bones to play with.
  2. It looks like one of those fancy snaps where you can adjust the length for the strap. Kinda like these: Wonder what it feels like when you wear it. Guess the only thing I would have to comment on are the ends of the retention straps. I would have rounded or pointed them.
  3. What do you exactly mean by that?
  4. That is a false statement. It truly only relates to patriotism which is great in the US and Canada, but she's from Europe (France). Her market is far different from the North American market. It is a matter of using the right venue. If you want to sell pricey items you don't advertise on low budget platforms. If people like Alice Cooper are wearing your jackets then let people know and go to their fan base for example. Let them know they can have the exact same jacket at x-amount. Further, using your models as samples and offer custom orders would make it a bit easier.
  5. Pretty cool neighbor in all meaning of this word ;-)
  6. How about getting a 1/2" square tubing and sharpen it? I would sharpen it on both sides or just as needed. Question would be if burnishing is still required then.

Nice and clean tooling. The only thing I don't like is the background. Rotating the stamp would have made it nicer. Here's a question for you. Will you burnish the edge above the hardware or just leave it as is? Reason for asking is, that I don't know whether it be necessary at all or not.
  8. I like how your saddle comes along. Looks like you are going to have a very comfy one.
  9. An Adler 30-1 and above will do the job. If you want to be serious about things you could look into any of the ones you see in the ad banners above. There are quite a few threads about sewing machines on the forum already?
  10. Honestly don't bother buying the Chinese ones. I have them and wouldn't buy them again. The ones on the pictures are nicened up. They don't look as good once you get them and you have to sharpen them first. If you want various sizes and you need to save some money I would use cold rolled steel, bend it, weld it onto a stainless steel carriage bolt or rod and sharpen it.
  11. Tramps, since I'm still having issues with my edges all the time, I wonder if it would be smart to clamp the item into the stitching horse or so for sanding, or am I running into another problem by doing so?
  12. I've got a set out of China for a couple of bucks through ebay. They work ok, but... Maybe this helps http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odkw=round+punch&_from=R40&_osacat=0&_from=R40&_trksid=p2045573.m570.l1313.TR1.TRC0.A0.H0.Xround+punch+leather.TRS0&_nkw=round+punch+leather&_sacat=0 and even the Tandy one is a lot cheaper there than on the Tandy site unless you are an elite member.
  13. Wow, I like this backpack. The only thing I don't understand is the little pocket in the front. Is it really just held by these 2 snaps? I'd be worried it would fall off easy in time. What are the dimensions on this anyways?
  14. I guess he's doing it the same way I do Troy. Touching up the border after everything is finished. I like the maker's stamp. That's so cool.
  15. Just make up a pattern Tom. I bet someone will make it.
  16. Stunning. I like how your floral is integrated into the border.
  17. Very nice. I'm sorry but I don't really get the issue with the stitching. What is wrong with it, please? However, I have never seen someone with a machete being worn in a 45° angle, but guess that would be nice when riding a horse, even though I would prefer to have it attached to the saddle than.
  18. Not only do they look great, they don't look a smidge as if you'd have made them yourself. Very impressive. With the right sole they'd be the perfect rancher work boot.
  19. Looks very nice Bob. How did you make the credit card pockets?
  20. Here's my favorite source for tools in Germany http://www.rickert-werkzeug.de/. Shipping is free within Germany and there's no minimum amount on the order. Tools are from various brands including Osborne and Ivan. Huge selection of tools and pricing is more than competitive. Haven't had a bad experience with them yet. I even gained weight cause they added marzipan to each delivery :-)
  21. Kinda unrealistic to think it would affect the US and Canada only, don't you think? Global marketing still means and will always mean that a product will be made where it is made best. That means a cheap product will be made where it can be made cheap and a good product will be made where you find good material and good workers. An outstanding product will only be made by very few people and they will always have their market. Quality has its price and so does outstanding quality. I agree that economical awareness will change the market in one aspect. There's no point to support tanneries that are not respecting the environment and don't take adequate measures in regards to their waste materials and so on. For as long as people don't prefer to sit on a plastic seat in their car, or ride on a plastic chair on their horse and so on the leather industry will be safe. This being said, the poor tradesman will always be sorted out sooner or later. That's just the cycle of the market in general. Didn't know Walmart was that old.
  22. O yes, sorry I mixed it up. Nothing to bother about as it's really just me and the way I've been taught about guns, safety etc. I also have a tendency to loose things...
  23. So something like thishttp://www.conchos.com/13stco1nipl11.html ???
  24. Now you got me confused Troy. Are you looking for slots smaller or bigger than 3/8" or 1/2"? I might be wrong as I'm a metric child, but isn't 3/16" smaller?
