The parts might fit if it truly is a 563 because you CAN put the small hook in a large bobbin machine(as long as it already had one in it),it isn't the best thing to do because I think you have a gap above the upper bearing in the hook saddle,so maybe they knew all along it had a small hook in it & know the larger one will drop in.

It is like a 153W or Consew 227,no reverse,should sew up to 20 oz (5/16") leather.Parts are still available for it too.

The Frobana has a wax pot on it for using cotton or linen thread (same as most other shoe stitchers) so I would guess it's another reason for the open type.Back when these old Singer 45K where being used they didn't have nylon thread so also had a wax pot for lubing the thread too.

The larger thread works better when sewing leather with the open frame,there is less metal to for the thread to drag against so the thread slides through easier.

The first pin you thread after the thread stand has 2-holes in it go through both of them.

It's possible the needle damaged the point of the shuttle,you might want to take the needle plate off & if you turn it slowly you can see the point ,make sure the tip still has a nice looking point on it.

Yes,all that hard work paid off.You have a great looking machine there.The decals add the finishing touch.I like that color,we use it a lot too.

The wicks are designed for last people that don't want to open the lids & oil each individual part.That being said if you oil everything that you should(every bearing ,sliding part & hole) in the machine you won't need to rely on the wicks. The feed fork screw can be tightened alittle if there's play but be careful that screw can break,they are still available.

Check for lint or thread on the latch(what you push on to get the bobbin out) or the spring on the latch could be broken. -
Yes,they are a special order (someones great idea to be different) BUT the machine didn't impress me to stock any so I passed.We don't get many people that want to pay more for a machine than they have to & we always get calls everyday from people wanting used ones for less $$.

Try stretching the spring out alittle.We have new tensions in stock if you need one.

The larger hook is also taller so it requires a mill because the top of the hook saddle needs to be milled.

I've tried doing this too & gave up using this motor on machines where I know people will want to go slow,we use the SL-550 instead & get the slow speed w/o any work.

If you have a tile or cement floor somewhere,take the head off the base,take your slide plate over the bobbin off & turn the machine upside down & shake it till it falls out. As you probably know now it's always best to take the bobbin case out when removing those screws.

NO,they do not just interchange!You need to either buy the correct hook saddle(the part that holds the hook in) or it needs to be taken out & machined deeper.The large hook is also taller & won't fit in,you also need to change the take up lever,as it's also longer on the 563.

Yes,a CB3200 would be a great addition for you as it'll sew the thicker leather with thicker thread that the other 2 can't.And of course the other ones can sew thinner leather than the CB3200 so you'd have no excuses to get the job done. LOL !

The 29K60 will be a handy machine to have with it's cyl arm.At least your getting machine that you can get parts for.

Looks like a good machine,timing belt looks good too.Has a large pulley on the motor easy to change or upgrade to a servo.

It will help them if you know the brand & model# of your current motor.Should have a tag on it with all the info.

You need a 2-spool serged edge for patches,so take out the left needle & use the right one only,you'll also a need to change the overcast looper to an open one(converts to 2-spool) so you can sew the edge w/2 spools.
