That needle plate is generic if I am not mistaken by the number on the back. Here in the states, I think you can get generic ones from Henderson Sewing in Alabama and Bill's Sewing in North Carolina. Both companies have web sites. As to Europe, Constabulary has some contact info above. There are generic plates out there and they should not be to bad in price. If an OEM part from Pfaff, yes it will be expensive. The throat plate is the same on a Pfaff 595 as well. glenn

C, I believe the needle system to use on this machine is a 134-35. I have set a couple of the Adler machines at work up with 135x17 system. The 134 system needle may be too short in length. glenn

Also, In the video on the 69 showing how to wind bobbin, thread machine and sew, the machine is NOT thread correctly in the take up spring area. It is threaded behind the location pin on the the take spring assembly and that is WRONG. I have owned and sewn on these machines and you do no thread behind that pin! glenn

laurend, This Adler 69-FA-373 means this machine was originally fitted with a thread trimmer. The knife may have been removed but other parts might remain. Send us some better pics of the shuttle area. glenn

laurend, 1. What is the exact model of your Adler? 2. Get us a few pictures of the machine head and it's set up. Then we can better advise you where to go. A short video of it sewing would help as well. glenn

One thing I would look at is the size of the needle hole in the feed dog. If you are going to use #138 thread, that hole has to be enlarged. What happens is as the needle is going down thru the feed dog, the size of the how in the feed dog forces the thread from the left side of the need to the front of the needle and that means the bottom tension comes out to tight. I would look at the tension spring on the shuttle hook and make sure it is tightening down properly. No dirt or lint under it and not grooved in the back. Make sure take up spring is set correctly and traveling correctly. These machines will sew #138 as long as they are set up properly. One other thing might be the spacing on the finger where the bobbin case moves back and forth. horizontal hooks do not have a proper bobbin case opening to adjust like on a vertical hook machine. glenn

The shuttle hook was not replaced prior to you encountering this problem? The reason I ask is that I have worked on patchers where a new shuttles has been put in. They were generic ones and it turn out both of the new shuttles purchased were to big . The hook would pick the thread off the needle fine but would then get pinched as it went round the shuttle. Shuttle to big to let the thread pass around it. glenn

What size thread are you using in the top and bobbin? glenn

This is a special 335 subclass. According to the model plate, #335-H3-734/01-6/01-921/01-BS -H3 means regular maximum lift of 11mm - 6/01 should be the standard model as to the feed dog and feet. -B means a B subclass which is on the lighter side of what it can sew plus a smaller balance wheel. C and D class are heavier and a larger balance wheel -S means for sewing cloth -734/01 not sure on this designation but the extra little lever to the left of the stitch length lever I think allows you to change the upper feed in relation to the lower feed dog -921/01 again, not sure on this designation Like Constabulary said, I would remove the stitch length lever and the back plate, then replace the lever and wee what you got. The stitch should be longer then That lever comes out with a set screw. You need a long screw driver coming up from the bottom to retighten the set screw. Generic stitch length plates can be ordered to replace the existing one and they are not real expensive here in the States. Australia, maybe. glenn

Bradford, Both of these machines are good machines. Bob at Toledo (Cowboy) and Steve at Cobra are both great to deal with. To me, the deciding factor would be which one is closer to you as to shipping costs. glenn

We need to see a pic of the stitch lever and plate behind it. Pfaff 335 machines have had maximum stitch lengths from 3mm to 6mm depending on when they were made and the sub class. The ones produce today have a maximum stitch length of 6mm. glenn

c, Not all parts were changed, just some. I do not think you can get any of the metric parts today. I have yet to find a source. glenn

AngieNZ, The 29U173A was built in Japan. Some of the parts or slightly different in spec sizes compared to the parts for a Singer 29K73 and 29K173. They went to metric sizing on some items and they are definitely different. glenn

C, Singer introduced the cam adjustment screw for the shuttle on the 29K51 series which I think came out in 1923. Up till then, all the 29-1thru 5 and the early 29k1-33 only had the long drive rack on the bottom with no adjustment. Glenn

There are machines with feet for ruffling. A lot of time machines will have a differential feed in that the upper feed and lower feed can be changed so that they are not the same. The Singer 144W304 comes to mind. You can change the amount of difference in the upper and lower feed. glenn

Eddieb, They do make pedals for stand up operations. What motor you choose will help determine a stand up pedal. Where are you located? This will also help to recommend a dealer or place to purchase the servo motor. glenn
