Chuck, I had a quiver like that on an old Carroll compound, 1974. It ran straight up and down, was so nice. One sunny fall day I was in a tree and a blue jay thought it would be a nice place to rest. He stayed 10 minutes or so, we just eyeballed each other til he blinked first. We have ten bobcats on the 151 acres..... going to have to do something. They wiped out my pheasants and wild turkeys... Between them and the coyotes it feels like home out west again. 84F right now. God bless Oh...... Nice quiver :)))

Dwight, Older, as in 1890, and newer ones as well, were tied with the multi hole lace method. Older ones had more holes to lace, newer ones fewer. You can date them by the number of holes.

Nice! What weight and leather is the belt made from? God bless -
How to keep leather/Patterns flat while cutting.
MikeRock replied to Littlef's topic in How Do I Do That?
Sad irons/flat irons are nice because of the varied shapes, pointy, rounded and straight. Leather faces keep the iron from discoloring the leather, moist or not. -
Mora was my first thought too. I bought three of them in the last few months. Never had a sharper knife.. She did well! Good coach too. You put in to PR yet? God bless

PITA learn two needle and awl sewing. The illustration shows it following up an awl, so what's the point.

Are all bobbin cases created equal?
MikeRock replied to MainiacMatt's topic in Leather Sewing Machines

Asian........yup, burnt to a crisp. Ordered a laser powered rust remover, looked great! Never got it. Emailed, a company only in existence for a week, replied with a 40 digit 'UPS' tracking code. Went online with the code......it said 'Delivered'........ and it was a tracking service offered by the brand new company.... now they are out of existence.

https://www.hueycases.net/ I used to know Marv Huey, great product. Still the best in the USA. I'm sure they'll tell you the best method of salvaging the felt, if it is possible. I have my doubts that it is possible to remove and replace the same piece of felt.

Do you mean one of the oak boxes with French fit openings for the various parts and barrel sets? If so, see Huey cases, the might have some advice. God bless

It's too cold to ship Renia Aqualim contact cement. Is the Tandy Tanner's Bond decent stuff? What's a good rubber cement for holding before stitching? Barge any good yet? Haven't had a can of that in a loooong time. Thanks

Shotgun chaps with tooled yokes
MikeRock replied to Mulesaw's topic in Clothing, Jackets, Vests and Chaps
Front side......Angora goat hair........then Angora goat skin........ two sides of same goat hide....then the lining is sewed on, only around the edges. Goat skin is more fragile than cow, the lining prevents undue wear and stress on the skin. -
Shotgun chaps with tooled yokes
MikeRock replied to Mulesaw's topic in Clothing, Jackets, Vests and Chaps
Yup........what he said. Mine were lined with pillow ticking/mattress ticking. My partner's were lined with light canvas, both were tough. Another pair that hung in the bunkhouse were pretty patched up woolen blanket, old Army blanket wool. An old North Dakota Swede had made them in 1923 (same year my mom was born). All of ours were dark Angora. -
