  1. letters are the absolute hardest thing to do IMO. reason, every brain knows what they are supposed to look like so any blem is noticed. You are doing a great job.
  2. i've looked all over cant find any except similar, not the exact font, antique on ebay.
  3. a slicker or burnisher of some type? I would say made for a special purpose indeed. looks like a guy could lay a strap flat and burnish the edge and top at the same time maybe
  4. i have two Dremel's and one off brand, one Dremel approx. 35 years old single speed but still runs fine, the ten speed Dremel not used much, my off brand motor , bought at wallymart, is used a lot , it is variable with the cable extension and about ten years old now. BUT i use Dremel bits and all Dremel discs and such. As i posted on another thread about power tools a cheap motor will run good bits a long time but cheap bits will kill a good motor quickly. If you are money tight you can use a cheaper motor but spend wisely on the bits and accessories and buy quality.
  5. or the neighbors crab apples lol. man we used to make a mess. Stewarts pics always bring back the memories.
  6. take them off chuck em up in a drill and use a file, if they arent to hard then a stone.

  10. We are at war, its an economic war and they are winning because they know its a war and we don't yet. But i have to agree on US tools also and buying vintage /antique.
  11. that is good work friend! The basket weave is right on, the border needs some work as posted above it should also cover/camo the ends of the weave
  12. thank you! maybe a two step process impregnate the two pieces separately form them then sew them together then seal the inside. Wonder how that would effect sewing them up besides making any gluing impossible.
  13. my American bully got scolded yesterday for chewing up one of our lawn chair pads lol.
  14. Your story brings to mind this they also supplied the UP shovels, picks and such, after they got into power they made millions. can you imagine how many shovels it took to build the panama or the UP. Oliver Ames was the president of the Union Pacific Railroad, while his brother Oakes was a Massachusetts congressman. But before they assumed their respective positions, the brothers ran a successful business selling axes and shovels to gold-seekers in California, and making millions in the process. The duo later supplied shovels to the government during the Civil War, for excavating the Panama Canal, for mining Pennsylvania coal fields, and for digging the New York subway system.
  15. i think i will go with beeswax as i trust your knowledge and experience, i have absolutely none on this. but my hard Spirits will stay in glass with maybe a leather cover lol. i have plenty of homemade chokecherry wine for this project lol. So how do you get the beeswax inside evenly and the remainder back out ? Heating the leather as well as the wax? If so on the leather how hot?
  16. thank you i sure hope so it maybe it will drum up a little business for me.
  17. just in time! those are cool as heck
  18. just my two cents on tools example= You can buy the best drill and it still wont drill with crappy drill bits or you can buy a crappy drill and it will drill well with high quality drill bits. This is where i have seen most folks new in trades failing. they gotta have the right Color power tools on site as you pointed out to look pro and be one of the guys but then they buy the crap when it comes to the bits, blades and such. i've never owned upper end power tools but i buy only upper end wear parts bits blades and such they save the tool no matter how well made from destruction from overwork.
  19. man your knife work and tooling rocks!
