Fury Holster
chuck123wapati replied to Dwight's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
I was looking at that, awesome work indeed. Yea getting that curve right is kinda tricky. When i made mine i was wishing for my moms old sewing dummy, it sure would have made it much easier to get the shape around the shoulder. -

What type of stitch gives the greatest pull strength?
chuck123wapati replied to lod's topic in How Do I Do That?
consider the seam type also in the overall strength a double felled seam may be a better choice. -

Single Six Holster
chuck123wapati replied to JWheeler331's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
I dunno but all the ones here in Wyoming I have seen have one. Horses buck and trot and do a bunch of fun things that loose guns don't do well with. they also used holsters with a full flap. also they had holsters that fit over the saddle horns and weren't worn at all.It doesn't matter really its yours to make any way you want beautiful work indeed. -
those are nice.

Perfect chisel holes and stitching lines ?
chuck123wapati replied to Wisdomsleather's topic in How Do I Do That?
I think it takes much practice but in the meantime here's how i do it. lol I punch each piece separately from the finish side then glue using small brass brads about every inch or so to line up the holes then use an awl to clean and make sure they are in line. I use a piece of soft wood, pine, as a punching board and some beeswax for lube. -
LOL great work reminds me of a time I and a friend ran across a sleeping black bear while bow hunting.

chuck123wapati replied to Constabulary's topic in Computer Help
wow whoda thunk it, ya mean they are in it for the money and control and not for our benefit? gee I thought all this tracking stuff was just to help me out. Ebay is just the tip of the iceberg. -

Well said ! i will add if you cant sharpen a good tool its no better than a cheap one. I have found much of my problems stem from just a few basic things none of which are the tools fault. 1.Keeping your tools sharp, learning to sharpen is one of the most necessary things IMO. 2.Patience. Slow down take your time. I used to get in a hurry and just didn't take the time really needed for a good job, like beveling I don't care for beveling and if I don't watch myself i get in a hurry and it really shows. 3.Getting in over my head, I'm the first to admit I try projects and techniques far above my experience and suffer for it, Disclaimer ; a person has to stretch the limits but they also have to realize the outcome wont be great for a while. 4. Not finishing correctly , goes right along with patience i used to tend to hurry my project and skip steps that although didn't seem necessary at the time really deterred from the finished project, follow the steps all the way through.
