  1. and why people traditionally wore straw hats in summer and felt or leather in winter. Leather hats are ok used at the right times same as shoes. Summer isn't the right time to sell them for sure. unless maybe biker type head gear.
  2. yea you may try to stamp th rough side first while putting another piece of leather under it flesh to flesh
  3. stohlman has at least one book on stamping the rough side. Check the free books on tandy e library.
  4. i saw harbor freight had a nice little collection system for just a couple hundred bucks.
  5. i do my woodworking and knife and tool making in a one room garage for all the dirty work, when I'm not wrenching on my rides. The basement for the leather, wood finishing and non dust stuff.
  6. If you want to find the fastest and easiest way to do something get the laziest person in the shop to do it.
  7. i,ve drug a couple dead elk with mine but never pulled a calf. Great job!!!
  8. i would just use some spray disinfectant, then let em set a day or however long you feel is necessary. If they have insoles you may want to replace them also.
  9. better than nice friend!
  10. That is one of your best the composition as well as the colors are perfect.
  11. Your lucky Wyoming is pretty dry so its not as much of a problem as more humid parts of the world. The acids in the leather reacts to humidity and you cant do much to stop it veg tan has tannic acid in it. I don't store firearms or ammo like that anymore but you sure can if you want. You will have to check it once in awhile and replace or clean the rounds, really the only way to prevent the stuff is good periodic maintenance and that is a necessity with the firearm as well. Moths and other bugs are notorious for getting inside a gun barrel and dyeing, when they do they can ruin the rifling, throat or cylinder for that matter in short order. so if your holster is open toe its something to think about also. I don't polish my brass before reloading so it always has a patina lol. Good luck friend.
  12. get a leather jacket, deconstruct it, cut out your design and use the pieces you cut out for patterns sew in your new pieces, resew. learn from your mistakes. When you are done you will know how to make them from scratch. My dad once told me there is nothing another man can do that you cant do. words to live by.
  13. i would sew in a toe, if the wearer ever sits down in the dirt his gun barrel will be full. Dont ask how i know this.
  14. once you glue them together they become one piece of leather so they don't separate. make them flat it will work fine.
  15. your stuff looks great! I like that round buckle it looks like a cinch buckle. i wore a cinch buckle for years on my belt until i out grew it also lol, now my son wears it.
