  8. sounds like your trying to make the stamp without casing the leather, You need to case the leather with water by wiping it down with a wet sponge then leave it until it looks almost dry again. Case the whole piece then it wont leave a stain when it dries back out. If the leather is cased properly it should stamp easily you may want to google the casing process there are a ton of videos out there, here is a very good description of the process.https://dgsaddlery.com/properly-casing-leather/
  9. three things come to mind good old copper rivet, Chicago screws with a washer on both sides or just have someone sew it correctly. if you use rivets make the holes in the webbing with red hot nail or some such the same size as the rivet or it will fray and tear out also. My hunting pack did the same thing, I just sewed mine correctly and it works great. You need tools for the copper rivets, the Chicago screws need some lock-tight and be sure they tighten against the fabric good or they wont help much either. REsewing would be the best IMO I think maybe even add some more material if you think it needs it.
  10. Nice holster. Waste of a good shotgun imo monstrosity is right lol hope he paid his 200 bucks.
  11. WOW that's awesome and yes you could quit your day job with stuff like that.
  12. I've read through some of this certainly not all of the comments but will add my two cents. My understanding about copyright laws is and I will use tee shirts for my example. Anyone can make a tee shirt because there is basically only one way to make a tee shirt so you cant copyright it because it has two holes for the arms one for the neck etc, nor can you copy right it because you made the arms an inch longer. You can copyright the cool design you put on, you can copyright the new material you created that you build it from or you can register you trademark that goes on it and then that is protected from being used by others but they can still make tee shirts, anyone can make a tee shirt and sell it as a tee shirt. Same with holsters a single action army has a certain shape and you cant make a single action army holster without using that shape. Stohlman used a shape in his pattern but anyone in about two minutes can find earlier examples that are exactly the same or darn close so his Holster design isn't really his to begin with and no one could prove you actually used his pattern, it a basic pattern for a single action army and it has to be shaped that way to fit the weapon, like a tee shirt. What you cant copy and sell as your own is Stohlmans art nor his books, same as the Harley Davidson logo, for example, or anything above and beyond that changes his holster from the normal basic revolver holster like a special snap or special tanning process for the leather etc.

  16. I agree and try to do my best! I live in Wyoming, its really friggin cold here right now, really deep snowdrifts and average wind speed all this last week of 25 to 60 mph, and there is a herd of deer in my front yard, but most folks don't believe there is a Wyoming anyway. lol But I do post my location just in case someone gets stranded on I-80. I think social media overall has these problems because people from all over the world are on here and cant always converse well in the English language, some have been scared by all the online weirdos who want to steal your id or your property and some just don't want to, people are funny that way. I joined to learn from others as well as pass on any help I can but also to communicate and enjoy the interaction. We can all do better and it would also be nice if when someone posted a question they then responded back to the answers in a sensible timeframe.
  17. I think your 'feeling ' comes from the negative space behind the name that makes it appear unfinished as well the lack of finish work. I can see that you may want to end the tooling in some way as it just kind of peters out maybe a border of some type so the shading and designs will have a stopping point. I don't think you would need to add more tooling, flowers, leaves, etc., if you don't want to around the name it looks great as is, but you could also add an oval or some type of border around the name then carry your background across the rest of the area so the whole pattern ties together. Just my thoughts It does look great as is and we always tend to forget that if your not completely done including the finish work, dying, antiquing, burnishing then the project always looks like something is missing lol.
  18. yup red green and blue are is essence all of the three primary colors with extra blue for making the green value. mixing red yellow and blue depending on quantity creates different hues of grey, brown or black depending on amounts of each color. I can see this as the starting point you also have to realize the color of the leather will add to the mix as most color mixing programs rely an a white background or an opaque color combination. good luck I would love to see the outcome!
  19. lol no more saddle sores shaped like pretty flowers! Great job there that clean up job is fantastic.
