  1. Has anyone tried a set of these for leather working? I was at the dentist office and my daughters dentist was using a set they seems like they might be a bit easier than regular magnifying glasses as they have an 18" distance for the work. I was hoping for some opinions before throwing down some cash. They came in quite a range of prices with some being really cheap others really expensive. https://www.amazon.com/Best-Sellers-Industrial-Scientific-Dental-Surgical-Loupes/zgbs/industrial/9060268011
  2. sweet indeed! reminds me of a matting cutter for picture framing.
  3. Skimping on tools ? Hmmm Does that mean quality or something else? If your question is all about quality then no buy quality tools! As other have said however is a quality box cutter that is 80% percent cheaper than a round knife skimping? Heck yea ! Skimping can also mean not buying tools you don't need. But as most have said the tools you do decide to buy need to be of decent quality to do the job you need done, i will add if you decide on non disposable cutting tools then by all means buy Good sharpening tools.
  4. I have a Chinese coin that a friend gave me and very old, i live on the Union pacific line in Wyoming very cool info.
  5. If i could do that good of work i wouldn't antique at all. I do it once in a while but not nearly that heavy or dark. It is more or less just pre ageing a piece that will take on a much better natural patina and dirt in the cracks look with time. Its kinda like da Vinci blowing cigarette smoke on the Mona Lisa lol imo. Nice to see your back its a much needed surprise and Merry Christmas.
  6. Merry Christmas MIke and may god bless you and yours! Sounds like you will have more to do tomorrow than just opening presents.

  9. Yes, they work like cuff links, use Dwights post on how to cut the holes in the straps.
  10. they are for straps and are about $4.00 a pop.
  11. I've seen those on really old straps for cameras and binoculars and such, they go thru two slots with holes, like you say in the strap and dont have anything to rivet them to. Here is a picture of some on a pack strap. ON this site they are called sabre or knapsack buttons http://blockaderunner.com/Catalog/catpg27.htm

  16. I was looking at that, awesome work indeed. Yea getting that curve right is kinda tricky. When i made mine i was wishing for my moms old sewing dummy, it sure would have made it much easier to get the shape around the shoulder.
  17. What ever you do dont try and google LOL. Seriously do you have any more info like a company name?
  18. lol that's the biggest roach clip i ever seen don't let Cheech n Chong see that. Now for the serious its sure beautiful and like Retswerb said functional art, it would look great in anyone's house just for décor. I take it your selling those do you have a site?
  19. wow cool find indeed and many uses. I would try to make one but i can only play one song with two chords lol.
