  1. Be advised that alcohol will dissolve the brewers pitch, ruining the flavor of your favorite beverage.
  2. And I have the matching chair!
  3. Thanks. The wax fills the fibers of the leather, the pitch is mostly for the seams. Caulking the seams so to speak. I've been getting the pith from Townsends. Brewers Pitch 1 Lb – Townsends
  4. Something that I found helpful was to mark one end of the tool with tape, nail polish etc and always keep it oriented in the same direction. If there is any difference between the ends (there SHOULDN'T be, but I have found some) that keeps everything the same.
  5. Thanks. I should clarify, it holds 4 cups. I stretch them out with un-popped popcorn. I ASSUME that it holds 32oz of liquid as well. After they are dry I saturate them with a blend of beeswax and paraffin. After that they get a final "lining" of brewers pitch. Thanks.
  6. What all do you have, and what do you want for it? It's not that far from Ellensburg to West Linn, so shipping isn't an issue.
  7. Neetsfoot oil and time.
  8. Here's another one. This one holds a quart, the other holds 24oz.
  9. You mean like these? These sell like hotcakes at the Rendezvous.
  10. Both my grandfather and father-in-law spent time in VA rehab centers after WWII. You might check with the British equivalent. Or something like Wounded Warriors. Scouting is another option.
  11. Somethings just NEED doin'!
  12. When in doubt, 8oz of 2f black powder will fix the problem EVERY time!
  13. You got it right. It doesn't matter which way you go, polishing takes care of the issue.
  14. The COST of those "interest free forgivable "loans" was my company had to get ALL of us OFF of unemployment! I could have been getting $1500 a week, but because the company got that "interest free forgivable "loan", I went to $800. So you don't know what the hell you are talking about!!!
  15. I bought an ULU for my wife as an anniversary gift. Dumb shit on the other end just taped it between two pieces of cardboard, The CARDBOARD arrived just fine, never did see the ULU.
  16. I have a range of stones from coarse carborundum to some antiques used for razors. It depends what you need to do. The carborundum is used more for shaping. Arkansas stones do most of my preliminary sharpening, then the razor stones followed by the strop. I also keep sheets of wet'r'dry sand paper in various grits, but I don't go to the extreme that some here do. I think 600 is as fine as I go.
  17. I have always been partial to oak leaves and basket weave. If you do oak leaves with pointy ends they are easier than rounded ends.
  18. You might give some thought to putting 3/4" plywood down under the marble. Any blows over an unsupported area may be prone to cracking.
  19. I also set mine to use a stool or stand. It gives me more options. I think you will be happy with your setup.
  20. I just use NFO on them. I don't use any of the plastic finishes on any of my projects.
  21. Great job. Everything a holster should be, functional AND attractive.
  22. Very nice indeed!
  23. You certainly could, but it's much faster to just use a strap cutter.
  24. A round knife is definitely the correct tool for the job. But I would suggest an Osborne rather than the one from Tandy. Once you get used to it you will wonder why you used anything else.
  25. I clearly understood him to say he used NFO. It is the only thing I use any more.
