Another marking is a numeral, let's say 18, with a smaller number, 1-4, underlined, indicating quarter feet. So, 18 with a smaller 3, underlined, would be 18.75 sq. feet.

I use plastic "disposable' putty knives. Get them at any hardware store. When done, let adhesive cure and rub off with an eraser.

I, for one, like to have tunes going when I'm back at the bench. I have a very wide range of genres I listen to. Celtic, classic rock, zydeco, Texas swing and more. Generally I bring Pandora up and put it on 'Shuffle' and listen for hours.

I wash all my dye rags, never had a problem with it getting into the washer. Oil rags I let air dry and throw away. I've always heard oily rags can cause fires. Urban legend? Perhaps, but rags are cheap.
When I was in the 8th grade (about 55 years ago) we visited my aunt and uncle in Jacksonville Beach. Our last night, there was a big storm, wind, driving rain, just plain nasty. Driving back across north Florida and into Alabama it had snowed, and little kids were trying to get snowmen moved into the shade.
My son worked for a truss company, and part of his job was to haul the sawdust and small blocks to a waste site. The same waste site that the countertop guys took their scrap to. He got me a 25x32 piece of marble for nothing.
