  1. There seems to be neither rhyme nor reason to how they have things listed.
  2. I bought a set of BK "steep bevelers" and have been totally unhappy. I just do not like the look that results. I have used them on several practice pieces. They have sat unused in the rack for over a year now. YMMV
  3. Never saw this before today, but he came across as something of an ass.
  4. In the Army I was known as "Tank". One night on maneuvers I was the radio man for my squad. On reaching our designated point we were to call in for more details. It went something like "Zeke? Yeah, this is Tank, Wolfman wants to talk to Jesus." After a short pause the response was " Tank, Jesus is in the can, I'll have him rattle your can when he gets back." We got a "lecture" about proper radio protocol, but I seriously doubt Charlie knew what we were talking about.
  5. A friend wanted a latigo shooting bag. The color bled all over his brain tan buckskins, and the shoulder of his shirt. I made a belt for another person and the colr went everywhere. A few knife sheaths have done the same thing.
  6. Any latigo I've used has bled color for years.
  7. That is NOT the tool in the OP.
  8. The head is usually not part of the skinning process. And very few bulls are slaughtered, or even raised for that matter. Any male bovine not destined for breeding is castrated as a calf. I think you will very little success in your quest.
  9. Rant on, no one is listening.
  10. Awl Haft - Weaver Leathercraft (weaverleathersupply.com) Saddler's Harness Awl 2-1/4", 1.5 mm - Weaver Leathercraft (weaverleathersupply.com) That is what they were designed to do. I have stabbed through over 1/2" of leather.
  11. Washington state is the "Evergreen State". But that only applies to the strip between the Cascades and the Pacific. 2/3 of the state is desert. Those that live on the west side of the mountains are know by the rest of us as "Wetsiders". They flee the rainy, wet side where they live, to play over here. They are a blight like locusts. They make life a living hell for us and we hate them. We wish they would all die and leave us in peace. THAT is a "Wetsider".
  12. Here where we live, we don't have mosquitos either. Too hot, dry and windy (sometimes all at one time). Nor do we have skunks, living above the irrigation canal. I'm sure there are a few kicking about out in the sagebrush, but I've only seen one in 35 years. What we DO have is hordes of Wetsiders from what they call "The Greater Seattle Area", that descend on us and make life a nightmare. I'd actually prefer the mosquitos and skunks.
  13. Use harness needles. They come blunt, and they are longer than glovers, easier to manipulate. I have sewn a couple hundred YARDS through the last 40 years, and I doubt I have pierced the thread 4-5 times. The right tool for the job always makes the job easier. And a good sharp diamond awl beats those "stitching awls" every single time.
  14. I did the same search and got nothing that looked like it.
  15. 4 feet on the wing, about 6 if they land. It's all I use anymore. And the grandson loves it too.
  16. I have a Bug Assault, a "shotgun" that shoots table salt. I like to take them on the wing.
  17. It looks like a "Stripping" blade for grooming dogs. I suppose they could also be used on horses manes and tails.
  18. Dusty Johnson has a set of book, video and patterns. The Stholman Encyclopedias of Saddle making is also an excellent resource. Complete Saddlemaking Course: Book, DVD & Patterns PLUS Saddle Savvy Book at 50% | eBay
  19. I would try it on scrap. That's pretty ancient.
  20. Folded like a TACO! At which time a lined holster is glued grain to grain.
  21. How old? What weather/temp conditions has it been through?
  22. I think you misinterpreted what he said. It is a lined holster. It has to be "folded", and since it is lined it is grain to grain.
  23. Doesn't look all that bad. The Edge Kote does a pretty good job of camouflaging.
  24. In wood shop we used good ol' Elmer's glue. As for "varnish", there are many things that come under that heading. Plastic excepted.
