  1. No, my tobacco came in tins and I just put in enough for a couple of days.
  2. Unless you can have one made in the colors you want, I see no way to alter the color that would turn out well. I'll wager that the color goes all the way through and every scuff will bring out the base color. It would be easier to change the color of your horse than the color of the saddle.
  3. As a former smoker that has made a couple of tobacco pouches through the years, I can tell you that if you do not have a plastic liner in it, the leather will suck ALL of the moisture out of the tobacco. But your workmanship is very nice.
  4. A Dremel with a fine grind stone may be an option.
  5. Pretty nice! I just bought an Uberti "El Patron" .357 that I will be making something similar for. A Win/Win, a new firearm and the need for a new leather project. Life is good.
  6. Tie down, wrapping just keeps it out of the way.
  7. If it has pull up it is probably oil tan and there isn't much you can do for a finish. It is the oils and waxes that give the pull up effect.
  8. Well, it IS Chocolate.
  9. Here a "popper" is a yummy tidbit, a jalapeno pepper, stuffed with cream cheese, breaded, then deep fried to a golden brown. Best thing ever. Mmmmmmm
  10. I have to ask; What is a "popper"?
  11. Plain and simple, if I mail an invitation to the neighbor I can SEE from my window, it goes 200 miles east to Spokane, back to Ellensburg, and then gets delivered. WHAT is efficient about that? The USPS needs to GO AWAY!!! Either that or be COMPLETELY restructured.
  12. It COULDN'T have anything to do with our grossly overpaid, highly inefficient postal service. No, that can't be it.
  13. No, bee's wax will just make it gummy. The COMPLETE name is Leather Balm with Atom Wax. It is a Fiebing's product. Leather Balm With Atom Wax – Fiebing's
  14. It would help their cause if they stepped up the quality of their leather. They have really gone down hill in the last 10-15 years.
  15. I never thought there was enough exposed blade on either of them to worry about. The safety skiver I just pulled a HEAVY knotted thong through the handle and hang on the pegboard. The other one hangs in a pegboard loop. 45 years and nary a scratch. My head knife and Japanese skiver on the other hand both have sheaths. Not for fear of cuts, but to protect the edges.
  16. I agree with Dwight, a small slotted concho with a strap and bleed knot, like a saddle string, would secure it, not damage the pistol, and not look out of place.
  17. Baird is a legend in the leathercraft universe. If you have an actual F. O. And pictures would be nice.
  18. Only the Govt. would believe that cutting a foot off the bottom of a blanket, and sewing it on the top, would make the blanket longer.
  19. Without seeing what is going on, my guess is that the loops are just a bit loose and it is friction with the strap keeping the rounds in place. Once flexed, the contact with the strap is mostly gone, allowing them to fall. I've always been a fan of two loops for rifle cartridges. One sized for the body and one sized for the neck.
  20. If anything, I might put some Atom Wax on it. To make that bag shiny would ruin it.
  21. I'm not sure I fully understand what the issue is. Opaque?
  22. My favorite is a no name blade that is probably older than I am. I'm sure it HAD a name but........
  23. I like the Atom wax and Leather Finish from Bee Natural. I really dislike all those plastic finishes. Bee Natural has several products for leather crafters. Leather Finish (beenaturalleathercare.com)
  24. That is an incredible first project. And a great job for your first. I actually like the way the paw print is "highlighted". I won't add anymore to what the others have said, except keep it up, you are doing fine. You will learn and improve each time you do another project.
