  1. Couple ?s Is sewing holsters or knife sheaths with a jerk needle a acceptable way to sew them ? If so how do you finish the stitch ? theres like 2 videos on sewing with a Jerk needle and neither one shows how you finish off the last stitch. So do you just cut off the end threads and burn them down/ do you have back stitch at all , How do you finish them? Thanks oh 1 more ? Do you start on your finished side or the back side?
  2. Great lookin holster

  5. thanks I bought one about a year ago never opened it as I read a lot about how hard they are to get working right. So I thought I just sell it. As I don't have a lot of mechanical experience and no patience for things that aren't right out of the box LOL maybe I put it together and try it

  12. I would suggest getting a basic leather working tool kit, then decide what you want to make and then watch some videos of people making those things. Maybe decide first then get the tools that you need to make what you want.
  13. Thanks guys , I added a couple more pics, I filled in the stars and added the belt clip.
  14. I'm making this as a barter piece. Guys gonna do some work for me and I'm doing this for him. I should have rolled the name down a little but I'm sure he'll be thrilled.

  18. I do the design in corel and transfer to the laser so everything is were its suppose to be . maybe I can dial down the power and laser lines on paper then do like you said. thanks hags are you sewing by hand or machine? I sew by hand and my thread is much heavier then machine thread I think.
  19. definitely will use a smaller bit and pierce with an awl on the next one thanks for all the great suggestions guys.
  20. Deciding how to shape the inlay was the hardest part
  21. yes I totally agree, but its seem every time I try that I mess up the stitch lines and ruin a piece leather. But I'll try again-the outside lines arn't to bad as I can use the groover or compass but the inside lines I have nothing to guide me and my free hand is awefull
  22. Thanks Chuck I'll give that a shot on the next one I do.
  23. Yea an overlay LOL glad you like it , thanks Dwight
