Hi, I found this Durkop-Adler 367 sewing machine available for pick up locally, but I don’t know anything about it. I need a sewing machine that can sew multiple layers of 4-5 oz leather. I currently use various models of Consew RB-1 to RB-5, would this model work on that? Also the asking price is $1500, is that a reasonable price for it? I can’t seem to find a lot of information online. Thank you in advance!

I have a Consew 225 I’m willing to trade/part trade for the right deal. It comes with a servo motor, larger head unit pulley/smaller servo pulley for ultra slow speed. I just want something newer. I’m located in SW Washington.

Just got this ferdinand machine. I've been using a Juke for the last 5 years. Got some questions. First, are these things always so loud. Sounds like a jack hammer when out gets going. Second, when I switch tho reverse it just stands still. The needle goes up and down and the foot lifts slightly but it doesn't pull backwards. Where can I get another foot Are there any accessories I should consider getting? How available are parts?

Ran across a Brother LS3 C51-050B used around a $1000 bucks. I am looking for something to sew through 2-3 layers of 6/7 or 7/8 ounce vegtan - heavy duty guitar straps. As well as lighter leather weight projects such as leather totes, purses, wallets etc. Would also use for stitching around belt slots in belt slide knife sheaths, clip holders, belt slot on my slide holsters. I hand stitch my western style holsters. But I really need to add a cylinder arm to my shop in addition to my flatbeds. No budget for a Cobra. Thanks - Kent

Plus I need the money for school. I researched this a ton before purchasing it. It’s a beautiful sturdy old machine made in Germany and very well built. I updated it with a servo motor by Reliable, the Sewquiet 6000sm, which costs about 190$. This motor is well reviewed and the company gets great reviews as well, if you ever have any difficulties with it. I still have the clutch motor available also, the installation is very simple. I bought the machine and table from a store in San Francisco that was going out of business. They were using it to make canvas and leather bags. 1,400$ and I’ll deliver it anywhere in southern Oregon to the Bay Area. If you want it delivered then there’s a 500$ deposit with the rest payable on delivery. Or 1,215$ and you’ve got to come pick it up yourself with someone to help move it. It’s pretty heavy. I live near Redding. You should have some familiarity with this machine, I won’t be able to show you much about it as I just got it and haven’t had time to get to know it well. Lots of YouTube videos available. I’m not trying to make money on it, I’m just trying to get back the money I’ve put into it. So no lowballing please.

I've been using my Juki 1541 W for gusset sewing, and though I've muscled through, I'd love to start working on a cylinder arm to make corners easier. What are people's favorite machines to look out for? I've been combing through facebook and other formums to find something used. It'll be my first one so I'd rather not pay for something brand new while I get adjusted. I generally use 3-4oz leather and mostly for bags, always veg tanned. Thanks! (or if anyone has tips on making gusset sewing easier on a juki, I'm all ears!)

Please help ID this machine. Front flywheel like a Frobana ...but too much difference???? Swiss made. does anyone have a manual? The curved needle is really a hook to pull the bottom thread to the top where it engages the upper billhook and shuttle/bobbin holder. Bottom thread is held in 2 "fingers" which present the bottom thread to the needle/hook. how do I adjust the needle to catch the bottom thread ....now it just misses.

Everybody knows what this is, so I'll just give you what you don't know. Bought March 2019,. Well cared for and used then til now. Comes with 10 needles, 6 bobbins, double toe and 2 centre foot presser feet and 1/4 lb of 277 thread. It's like new and works well. Reason for selling is because I've upgraded. 1400CAD which is about 1050USD. I'm in Nova Scotia, but I'll ship for free within Canada or the US.

Well its time to expand into new disciplines. I have restored and rebuilt a 100+ year old one horse carriage except for the upholstery, dashboard and trunk. Just ordered a couple of 3 oz hides and now need a machine to sew with. As far as I know there are no industrial machine dealers around here in Idaho so I need a machine that would easily serviced if needed possibly by a residential machine technician (if that is even an issue). Anyway I have pretty much decided to buy new unless something pops up regionally. As to what else I plan to do with it, I never know. But I do have lots of ideas. Belts, sheaths, boat cover repairs, furniture cushions, wallets, ect. I would hold the line at holsters and heavy leather as initially the type of machine necessary would not be ideal for my current project based on discussions in this forum. From reading forums I would probably like an 18" arm Servo Motor Gear reduction Looking for brand and model recommendations. In addition what additional supplies and attachments should I be purchase for/with the machine (feet, needles, thread size)? No specific budget but I guess I will be spending 1 - 2 k.

Hello Everyone, First time posting here so please be understanding with terminology and what not - any help/suggestions is appreciated. I have what I believe is an early singer 16k SV - only issue is there is not a model number tag on it like most (aside from the serial number - 5603810 - 1883) - Do you agree with this or have any reason for why it could be a different model? Hopefully once this is confirmed I will be able to track down and eliminated a few of these issues: 1- When taking off the tension part from where the handwheel attached my brother broke it. I have no idea what this piece is called and have been searching high and low. It seems to have been connect by a pin to an internal spring maybe? We have not tried to remove the part stuck in the rod yet as I do not want to make a bad situation worse. I really feel even knowing the name or part number would really help. 3- I also believe that I have a jump foot and long beak shuttle - my brother and I broke the top foot and I am looking to replace this as well - any suggestions? 4- Needles, needles, needles....can anyone tell me what you would try first/what to look for? 5- Does anyone know what this little clip would be called on the slide plate? It still stays on but I would like to complete as much as possible. Again, thanks in advance and any iformation and or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

I'm a hobbyist who makes reproductions of film, game, and television costumes for attending conventions and entering competitions. I have been sewing for 6 years now and have had a pretty good success rate and am comfortable sewing fabric but want to expand the range of skills I have. The next costume I have my eye on making contains a lot of leather and I know I will need the appropriate sewing machine to get it done properly and work with more leather in the future. I do have machines some sites advertise as being 'appropriate' for leather such as my singer 4423 and my all-metal Bernina 1008S but | really doubt their capabilities on thicker fabric and the number of broken needles that would involve. From what I have read I know I need to be looking at a walking foot machine with a compound feed and a servo motor, for garment sewing I want a flatbed, my issue comes from my student's budget of around £600 (I am from the UK) which I know is not a lot and I am looking at 2nd hand machines. As I am making garments my leather shouldn't be too thick, I have attached an image of the first project I wish to embark on as an example, however, I do need to occasionally work on things such as holsters and belts so I guess a machine with an ability to sew a wider range of fabric would be better. Although I know each machine has a range that it is suitable for so may not be able to do everything I want, I am fine hand-stitching small pieces like bags, belts and holsters if the machine I got couldn't handle it (as I am on my current project: Dolores from Westworld). I have a friend who used to work at a leather store and now runs her own small leather goods business, and the grandmother of my boyfriend who worked making leather goods all her life as people to turn to for advice on choosing leather for my projects as I don't have much insight myself as I'm still learning, I'm sorry I can't offer more information. My JUKI came with a Goldstar GBSM 500 servo motor. I lost the instructions of what the buttons do. One is speed, one says allows you to switch between P1 and P2 ?? I thought that was part of the positioned mechanism but nothing changers when I use it, third but allows change from F1,F2,F3. I don’t know about this. help if you can

Hello, I'm new to leatherworking. So far I've sewed a few things, some bags, wallets and a coat. I've been sewing for longer then I've been sewing leather. My little Singer 15k (I think) can't quiet keep up with what I want to do. After reading a lot on the forums I started to keep an eye out for an actual leather sewing machine and not a high powered industrial machine as most are described. Today I came across two machines for sale from the same owner and both look like what I could use. The problem is I don't know which is better suited to me or which is the better deal. And I believe neither has reverse. The Consew 227 comes with a table and a gear reducer clutch motor. The Singer 132k6 also comes with a table and a clutch motor. Hi all, I'm in the market for a free arm cylinder for sewing my leather bags. I definitely want a walking foot, and came across the SEW LINE 2603 (or 2605) CYLINDER WALKING FT with REVERSE on ebay for $1300. Ive never heard of the brand, and of course it's less expensive than the juki's and consews, which is ideal for my "starter machine" budget is under $1500. It would be my first free arm- right now I have a Singer 211G. I want to make sure its a decent investment for the price.... thoughts!? Thanks everyone!

I have a Cobra class 4 sewing machine, was hoping it was going to do everything I was going to make. Few years later I'm starting to need a machine for wallets and watch bands. I use leathers between 2 to 5 oz either split or skived down. Was thinking about a Juki 1508, huge cost but a solid machine, of course, the salesman is pushing the most expensive. Looking for suggestions; good machine lower price. I know, I know the subject has been most likely been covered a thousand times but I cruised the topics and didn't see a topic that seemed to fit. Not sure what I'm going to end up with, but I need something...

I see many requests for manuals for Singer Industrial Machines. Some have gone unanswered, and some are subject to long and tedious discussion with either no satisfactory answer, or an answer hidden deeply away. Of course, there are also plenty which have been answered quickly and succinctly. By doing some research and seeking out some of those hidden answers and others less hidden, I think I have found all of those that have been asked for, as well as many others. I am not an expert, and don't claim that this is an extensive list, but it is a pretty good start for those trying to find the manuals, parts lists and service manuals. I have taught myself leathercraft and have been making some accessories as a hobby for a few years now. I feel like I am very passionate about designing and making handbags and small leather goods, and I would like to expand it to a full-time business one day. In order to increase my production rate, I am contemplating purchasing a leather sewing machine, however I am having no luck finding good models for my use in Hong Kong, where I am based. I don't think I will work with very heavy leather, just light to medium weight leather for garments and bags. I saw some of the recommendations here for brands such as TechSew, Cobra, Cowboy, Consew, etc but shipping it to Hong Kong from the US will cost a lot of S&H and the plugs/voltage are not the same. I saw quite a few people based in Hong Kong and other parts of Asia and wondered if anyone has any recommended dealers for leather sewing machines. Thank you for your help in advance!
