Used some more Wickett and Craig bridle leather I had, along with some soft lining leather. Still room for improvement, but I'm not embarrassed this time around! Fil au Chinois thread, RiRi zipper. YinTx

I call this wallet a Galway Trucker. Made it for a friend of mine who hosts a podcast radio show. Dyed with Tandy’s waterstain in Bordeaux (my favorite color to use, it’s so rich!). The liner is a piece of Blackwatch tartan wool. All artwork is laser engraved. I think it came out sweet! 4/5 ounce veg tan all around. A bit beefy, but I’d like it to last a lifetime.

Hello all! Here is a roper wallet (or long wallet) that I just finished for myself. Btw, my nickname is Nate in case you're confused. I needed to make myself a wallet so I could have some of my work with me when meeting potential customers. Also, my Cabela's wallet was falling apart. It is lined with Tandy's super soft pigskin. When I showed it to my dad, he said I should have stamped "A fool and his money are soon parted" on the inside flap... (I think I should have done that too considering how often I go to Tandy... ) Let me know what you think! Comments/critique always welcome. Thanks for looking! -Ryan

Hey Looking for all the help I can get on this one. Never made a long wallet before so I took to instagram for some inspiration... @from_one_leather See below for some pictures. The last image is a similar wallet by the same person, but it is the zipper in the middle for coins that I am particularly interested in. Any idea how it is done? I've never worked with zippers before. also, with the first image, how do you think the insert for the strap is sewed into the piece? Any other insights would be great. Sam

This is version 2 and 3 of a long wallet a customer ordered in Barenia and Chevre Chagrin. Only version 3 made the grade. Version 1 never got finished, not sure what to do with Version 2, not good enough to sell, and with 1/2 a side of Chevre Chagrin and a couple square feet of Barenia, a Riri zipper and hours of edge work I can't bring myself to toss it. Happy at least Version 3 came out well enough! I have a newfound respect for those that are able to work with this leather. Stitching is a challenge, and not adding your own "Patina" so the customer can add theirs is also a challenge. Edge painting is also not easy for me on this type of leather! Enjoy. YinTx

Greetings from Slovakia. Thank you for adding me. This is my first post on this site. Shoulder bag and wallet with skull and dogwood flowers I made recently. I started working leather about a year ago and I enjoy it very much. I am making mostly wallets, knife sheaths and other small stuff.

I'm looking for a pattern for a long wallet that will hold around 20 credit cards and a wad of cash. If anyone has a suggestion they have tried I would appreciate it. I tried building one with a center leaf to hold the cards but it got way too bulky if you put two or three cards in each slot. Thanks for your help, Garry.

A custom wallet I made a while ago. The requirement has been to adapt one of my existing designs to just about fitting Dollar notes unfolded. The wallet is 17cm (6.7") long. For the interested, I've used an aniline colored, Italian, full grain, vegetable tanned, shoulder leather that have been drum dyed. Weight is 4.5-5 ounce (1.8-2mm) all the way through, all hardware is nickel plated brass, including the YKK zipper. The thread is artificial Sinew, everything is saddle stitched by hand. I've used a small Vergez Blanchard awl and a fork as stitch marker (not kidding). roughly 5mm stitching or 5.08 spi. Edges are dyed with a permanent marker pen, and burnished with saddle soap and polished with some wax. The only treatment of the leather have been some final wiping with some Carnauba cream. Although not visible in the pictures, there is a third 'hidden' card pocket in between the main body and the zippered coin department. Hopefully the pictures will inspire someone, but don't copy - don't be lazy and a tool. Instead, try to always do things your own way - that is part of the fun! Cheers.

Been a long time since I contributed on the forum with something that I did myself. However, I had this fun custom order a while back. The last picture is from when the tooling was done, but prior to any coloring. This was a specific request order from the customer so I had little say in the choice of design and coloring, however, I did the final drawing of the design and implemented it on the wallet. Considering everything, I'm still very happy with the end result, and even more importantly, so are the customer. Tooling was done on premium 2mm natural veg tan and hand colored, stained, antiqued and finally lacquered, and the interior is a premium drum dyed, black Italian veg tan in the same thickness, besides from the card pockets that was thinned to around 1.4mm. Saddle stitched (hand stitching) with artificial Sinew thread. I have removed the makers mark and some personal markings from the pictures for the sake of the customer and also because I personally don't want to come off as to use this forum as an advertising place, there are enough people doing that already. The pictures are taken with my smartphone, as my SLR camera had an accident - so apologies for the quality of the pictures. Hope you guys like the wallet and find it inspirational.

Hello Dear Leatherworkers, I recently finished my first long wallet. I ruined everything on this project. For examples the stiches. I think the overall look is good but I learn again a lot. The next one will be better! The little birds are burned.

Happy New Year all! This is my last 2015 project a lady wanted for her hubby's 50th birthday coming this month. Due to an injury I'm a bit behind now. With some guidance in regards of materials to use or not to use from my side it was all the lady's choices. Two items are still missing on it. It will have a braided zipper pull and a wallet chain attached to the latch. The outer leather is Harley Davidson clothing leather. A pleasure to touch but a pain to work with. The S is inlaid with Stingray and the outer shell then lined with suede goatskin. Card slots and coin pouch is made from veg tan cowhide. Edges have been heat treated then painted, heat treated... The HD leather is a pita... The concho came from Japan on special order. Sorry the picture is a bit blurry. Dimensions around 19 x 9 x 1.5 cm All comments are welcome.

This was a Christmas present ordered by the head instructor at my Karate school, so I did have some pressure to get this one right😀 It is a clutch wallet and he wanted a dark color with bright conchos. We came up with using the conchos for flower centers. He was thrilled with how it turned out.

Pretty excited to finally get to make something after being away so long. My aunt had requested a new checkbook cover, she didn't want anything fancy, so I hope she enjoys this one. I am clearly out of practice on my hand stitching, but other than that and a few small errors here and there (forgot to burnish the pen holder edges before I stitched it up---Aaargh!) I think it still turned out ok. Open to suggestions for improvements, as I think I'll make a similar one for myself. Please let me know what ya'll think! Thank you! I will put more photos in the gallery: http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?app=gallery&album=2662 YinTx

I have always been a fan of tattoo's. Since I can't get all the ink that i want I tool it on leather. Not quite the same fix but close. So I decided to do a Sailor Jerry Theme "Homeward Bound" long wallet for fun. This is what it ended up looking like
