My experience with Osborne is their tools are mediocre, well priced, dull out of the box and they have no customer service. I'll purchase them only as a last resort but that's just my own opinion. For finding the proper sizes I'll measure the posts with a caliper and get the corresponding hole punch. I have a complete set now, have holes punched in a scrap piece of leather and just match the rivet I'm using to the punch that was used to make the hole.

Winter Storm Project. 1911 Cavalry Holster Templates

We're offering free shipping this month so enjoy your time indoors. I'm getting to feel like I'm under house arrest. -
You could also use a cheap leather punch the right size and dull it, or buy a CS Osborne punch and use it as is.

WD40 will clean it.

Another option would be to hire out that service.

I'd be tempted to clean that one up and cover it with paint, tape or thin leather.

That's nice Joyce, well done. If you want more quality leather time move to northern Ontario, we have daily blizzards. Kevin. -
I would use a template made of paper cut the same size. Fold the paper, mark your line, cut on the line and then unfold the paper and there's your template.

That could be stale/poor leather. Oil after you tool and before you dye. Don't bend the leather, allow it sit for a couple of days after oiling. The Cabela belt might be different than veg tan. If you call Springfield and explain what you want they may have the leather you need.

Gold might be a better match. The more saddle tan you apply, the darker it will become. -
I want a stiff belt, they loosen up with time and use. Neatsfoot oil on the blank will soften it a little or use thinner leather.

This is the one Midway sells.

He might be off for the holidays. I emailed him a week ago about making a stamp for me and I haven't heard from him yet.

You can do that with a curved needle.

It will depend on the use or abuse but they can always be touched up again considering you will still have access to them. -

That's a fine piece of art and craftsmanship. -
This isn't that great if you tried to carve it. I apologize if your kids did it.

The work is good but it's overshadowed by your rudeness. I've used craftool and Barry Kings tools and there is a difference between the two, I have both so I'll keep buying professional tools for repetitive work and still use some craftools occasionally. As for the original question, if he's not happy with the results from the tools he's using regardless what they are he can always upgrade and make his own decision on what works best for him.

Are those stars stamped or carved?

http://barrykingtools.com/page5.htm I'd contact Barry and tell him exactly what you need.

Save your money, buy the #1 or #2 and see how that works for you first.
