  1. Yep, pretty much what Marc said.I do mine a little different as I slot my top piece and weave the cartridge strap through the slots and attach on the ends. I also put snaps on mine at the bottom.Dave
  2. OK folks, since it is Christmas and I am still unemployed I am dropping the price for everything down to $100.00 picked up.thanks.Dave
  3. Ray, as you know thats about all I do anymore is inlays.I have a tutorial under "Knife Info" on my website.Feel free to look at it and if you still have questions,I'll help ya.Dave
  4. Well I must be one of the lucky ones as I always have had great experiences with Tandy and the Leather Factory in Tampa. Also out of maybe 50or 60 spools of Tejas Superior Lace I have only had issue's with maybe two, but I do thank you for the warning.Dave

  11. Ostrich Market I don't have any Ostrich at this time but I do have some red Stingray that I can send you.You can also contact Hank or Jeanne at Ostrich Market and they may be able to fix you up with a scrap piece.Dave
  12. Here's the way I did my last set of holsters.Dave
  13. Thanks guys , that was a big help.Dave
  14. Hi gang, I normally only do OWB holsters , but a friend requested a holster similar to this and I can't seem to find a clip that wide or style.Any info? Thanks. Dave
  15. Ostrich Market They usually have a nice selection of colors in stingray. Personally I would stay away from Faux stingray or faux anything for that matter.Use the real deal and charge for it. In my opinion using fake skins tend to "cheapen" the whole project, and probably doesn't do your reputation well either.Dave
  16. Thanks everyone, and no, not a Lonewolf, that was made by me.Dave
  17. I would definately put some veg-tan underneath, the shark is very strong but is also soft to the touch. I sand and burnish it the standard way.Dave
  18. Just did a collaboration on a knife/sheath project for a customer. For a change I didn't make the entire sheath, just the veg-tan core and the concho. My buddy Josh Dabney another maker did the rawhide wrap and all the danglies and did a great job. For the knife we designed it and I ground it and Josh did the HT and I finished up the assembly.Dave The knife is 16 1/2" oa and has an 11" blade made from a Alabama Damascus billet. The deer crown is from the customer. The concho was made from another deer crown and a piece of damascus I machined and was made to match the knife.
  19. I have to agree with Ostrich Market as well, though I do live close to them and make holsters and sheaths for them.Hank has a good supply on hand, just delivered some holsters last week and picked up some shark and gator.Dave
  20. My inclination is they are not all they are cracked up to be.Alot of the commercial damascus on the market today comes from overseas, hence the cheaper prices. But alot of it is made with questionable steels. There is some very good quality Damascus being made here in the US but the price is much higher. But Damascus in itself doesn't make a blade any better than the steels its made of.You would be just as good to buy a good quality carbon steel head knife from a quality maker, unless of course you really like the looks of damascus.Dave
  21. Ostrich Market I know I have used alot of different stuff.Never tried hippo.I have tried different fish species and lots of snakes.Dave anyways you can also try here, they are local and a big distributor.
  22. Josh, that looks great bud.Stamping looks perfect, nice design too.Dave
