Adhesive Question

M-90 may work on just one side. It's from 3m. -
I was at a petting zoo the other day. The ponies' stuff was in pretty bad shape. I offered to work on it for the learning experience. I don't really know much about it, but I do have a pattern pack for tack.

Orders to ship
bikermutt07 replied to Mattsbagger's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
Very clean. -
I think for this I would switch to Angelus leather paint. It sounds like you are trying to paint with dye. And that probably isn't going to go well. Someone with more experience should be along soon. Good Luck.

First go with Horween

I found the cxl horse butt to bunch up really easy while stitching. I remember having to slack off of my normal pressure. Great looking wallet. -
That looks great. Your stitching has definitely improved.

Rocky Mountain Leather Supply has tiger thread.

It drove me crazy in the beginning too. The leather would always stretch at the end of the corner giving that jut out of square. Knives sharp enough for one pass is what I have found to work best. If you have a round knife you can roll thru the end of the cut and not cause the leather to stretch. Sand paper comes in handy for cleaning up uneven cuts, or even a Dremel sometimes. These are my go to knives. They are all Knischield knives. I use the round knife the most. The curved detail knife is really handy for those tight spots. The bevel point knife doesn't get used much. But it is really awesome at cutting card pockets on thin flimsy leather. I can basically push the knife straight down chopping the line instead of cutting it with a stroke. I am a hobbyist and this is over 500 bucks worth of knives, but cutting has become so comfortable with them. I slowly collected them so the money wasn't missed that much. If I could only have one it would the round knife. Followed by the curved knife. Also I go around my templates with a scratch awl the cut them out. That usually works pretty well. And I do use a rotary cutter on the long stuff. As far as hole punches bouncing, you need something firm. Granite is what most of us use with a rubber mat or poundo board on top.

Sewing Machines Question and Recommendation
bikermutt07 replied to pepeunidos's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
Most everything you mentioned could be had on a smaller machine than mentioned. You could technically tackle everything you mentioned with the 3200. But, will be constantly changing needles and adjusting tension. Everything short of the holsters and sheaths would be more comfortable on the consew 206rb platform or a cowboy 341 if you need the cylinder. Or comparable machines to these two. The 3200 will probably be best served staying right around the middle of the road between theseachines and the larger capacity 4500 models. So, sheaths, holsters, saddlebags and such, yes. Wallets, garments and such not so much. Try and figure out where 1 your market lies and 2 less important but your interest lies And buy the machine that can help you find the other machine(s). If you have the scratch for the 3200 you are right there with the 341. Since more of your items are smaller the go that way and get the 3200 later. I was able to find a hunny of a deal on a consew 206rb1. There isn't much difference from what I understand in that series except the lube system. The rb1 is a cross between a wicking system and a user oiled machine. Since I am sewing slowly I don't benefit from a self oiling machine like the 206rb5. Just stuff to think about. I thought I was fairly knowledgeable about them by reading everything here. Now that I have one I can see there is so much more. -
Spartan short sword sheath.

( and I'm back to being humble ) HA! I love seeing your work, Mike. Stellar as always. -
Did our have to do this? Mine came pretty polished up. I even punch thru on the thinner stuff. Also, I have bought the templates. The new narrow shoulder hole punches..? They turned out to be a steal for the whole set. Wing divider is nice. The little needle/toothpick holders at 2 for 5 bucks. What a deal. Didn't mean to get carried away. The bottom line is I have been dealing with him/them for most of my leather Adventure. About 4 years now. They have always been good to me and I have watched their product line grow.

I have the 3.85 and am really happy with them. They are great to deal with, you just have to be patient on shipping which they are upfront about. I have ordered several times from them. I have liked everything I have gotten from them.

Rattlesnake inlay knife sheath
bikermutt07 replied to texback's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Great sheath and knife. I didn't get to really know Ray, but he sent some good deals my way. I was starting out when he was getting his affairs sorted. Seemed like a really nice man. -
They say in the cooking world if you go simple it better be right. I think you nailed it. Really beautiful.

Great job. There is a lot going on. -
Well the mushroom joke is old. But, recently my uncle has been posting at least one joke a day on FB and it just makes my day. Like how do you have a party in outer space? You planet.
-
You think that's bad? I stayed up all night trying to figure out where the sun went.... Then, it dawned on me.

Those look great. Why did the girl mushroom like the boy mushroom? Cause he was a fungai.
