  1. YW. I love Landwerlen's. It's like stepping back in time, and they are very friendly and helpful. They are a bit of a drive for me, but worth it.
  2. Welcome. Check out Landwerlen Leather Company landwerlen-leather-co.business.site 365 S Illinois St, Indianapolis, IN 46225 Great place. Near Lucus and Union Station.
  3. Thanks for sharing. That was amazing the beauty he created with minimal tools. The old cast iron sewing machines (esp. singer, or singer based) are great. Nothing fancy, but wonderful stitches when they are cleaned up, and they can be on a treadle, hand crank, or external motor. Parts are readily available and relatively inexpensive.

Beautiful work as usual. Did you make both of your jigs? They are very nice, from what I can see in the picture.
  5. These are not industrial sewing machines and can't handle heavy leather. You might want to read about Singer 201-1 (Treadle Operated), 201-3 (BR external motor with belt drive) or 201-4 (hand cranked), or the K versions made in the UK between 1935-1962. 201-k, 201K3, 201K4, 201K21,23&24. . Germany also made a verson from 1935-1944? 201D (cast iron model as 201K3 etc.) There are forums regarding the Singer 201s and I think there may be a Facebook group of users. I think all of these models could use a servo motor in place of its current motor if needed. Here is a link to Harry Rodgers on youtube discussing it. Harry is a Leatherworker, if you haven't heard of him. Best Budget Leather Sewing Machine? - Bing video. Any Singer 201 with -2 (I believe) has a potted motor which is attached directly to the machine and doesn't use an external belt. Most require checking out the wiring in the motor.
  6. Maybe a custom Bible Cover, or the custom holster if she has a need/use for it.
  7. Great Video and thanks for talking about how you made the plastic bag and seal it up.
  8. Ouch. I cut my finger in early Nov. sharpening knives I was using to cut tomatoes. Sorry to hear you have that many stitches. When they removed the stitches, I found using Vit. E cream (I purchased it at Walmart) on the scar was helpful as it continued to heal and close up.
  9. I love ribbons and love the idea of some scrape leather to attach the ribbon to so it slides into the opening for the spine if the Bible is hardback/leather/leather like. Might I suggest using pinking shears to cut the ribbon to help with fraying or they make something called fray check (usually located in the sewing notions) Yin the Bible cover is beautiful I love the look of leather bookmarks, but they are usually too thick for my books, especially if it is a paperback book (those bindings are usually glue and the pages come out easily in my experience.)
  10. Here's a link to a review of an Aurora 801. It's in Russian, but has English Subtitles. I turned the sound off (I don't speak Russian) and read the subtitles. Машина для спуска края кожи | обзор машины А-801| Skiving machine - YouTube
  11. Very nice and double duty. Like the swivel snaps to unhood it from the pants when using a dehydration port (aka bathroom)
