I would guess someone had the handwheel off & didn't put it back on the groove where it should be ,easy fix.Loosen the handwheel screws (down in the belt groove) & re-install. Sometimes in this type of machine w/o a walking foot the stitch length will shorten if your sewing leather, put a piece of paper or cardboard & see if it gets longer.

I would say keep them all for now too & maybe a few years down the road you'll be able to better decide which one works best for you.You shouldn't have any trouble getting them in a room that size either.

First machine - Northern Balkans edition
CowboyBob replied to Kovac's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
Hello,Welcome to the board. Yes,as long as you don't go over 15-18 oz the 335 would be a good machine for you.It uses #50,40,30 size thread. -
Keeps the head from jumping around while your sewing fast.As much as this weighs I doubt if it'll happen, they way it's setup the belt would hold it down.

And you can get standard feet that work for it.

Don't forget to always stop & start with the take up lever @ the highest point,to make sure the needle thread is released off of the bobbin. CB441 manual pg5.pdf- 16 replies

Why is the feed dog timing like this?
CowboyBob replied to Gymnast's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
Just go past the groove,I've done it before,as long as the screw is tight it doesn't need to be in the groove. -
Why is the feed dog timing like this?
CowboyBob replied to Gymnast's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
On the 66 machine in the video the feed dog is adjusted too high.I would lower the height, you should also be able to adjust the feed cam alittle to keep it from feeding as the needle goes in the leather. The 201 machine with the style of hook in it is most suited to keep using lightweight thread & sew what it was designed for.The best models to modify for sewing leather are the Singer 15 class, they have an adjustable feed cam & oscillating hooks like the Singer 31-15 & will take the # 69 nylon better than the 66&201 will. -

Juki LU-563 safety clutch bypassed/spot welded
CowboyBob replied to ke6cvh's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
Mike,That's a great price. For that kind of $$ you could cut the weld with a Dremel & repair it or buy a new clutch & replace it.If it jams & you are sewing fast it could twist or break the shaft with it being welded.Going slow w/a jam will stop it quick, just unjam & continue sewing. -
Singer had a model like this one,I think it was 7-27 that was a large bobbin with the raised needle plate area & the problem with it is you can only sew 1/2" thick with it & can't be modded because of it.Some Singer parts will interchange but none of the Singers ever had reverse on them so feeding parts would have to be bought from Adler.

Cowboy cb341 to Juki ls341 accessory compatibility

Nice looking patcher stand you made here! The reducer looks good too.I know the shpg & etc from here to you is a lot of $$ so I don't blame you for buying local. -
Cowboy cb341 to Juki ls341 accessory compatibility
CowboyBob replied to ke6cvh's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
Mike,The biggest difference in the N machine it has the newer style of needle plate the same as the CB341. It works the best if your using 207 on the top to use 138 in the bobbin, the stitch will look better. -
Check to see if the safety clutch is engaged properly & since it WAS sewing why in the world would you think the belt was installed incorrectly? It's incorrect now though since you moved it that is why it isn't feeding correctly now. There's directions on this link how the reset the belt & timing. http://navyaviation.tpub.com/14218/css/Timing-The-111-W-Class-Sewing-Machines-201.htm

Great, I'm glad to hear you got it loose.
-
On most Pfaff's & I'm sure this one is the same way you loosen the screws on the smaller gear, the screws on the large gear go into a slot on the shaft,so re-tighten the large gear screws ,loosen the small ones & if it's stuck, very carefully put a screwdriver under the hook to hold it from turning & turn the handwheel & it should break free.
-
It has a smaller needle plate, different feed dog on it than the 45K25 which is harder to find when you need one.But pretty much the same otherwise.

He does what a lot of people on Ebay do,has them dropped shipped from the supplier to you,he is just a middle man.

It's laid out in the correct order ,put the take up spring in first & keep going with the rest of the parts.Make sure to put the spring in so it has some tension on it when you push on it,so when you first put in on it'll be approx. in the 6:00 position ,then push it up to the cut-out area it sets in.

We have had a lot of luck straightening them in the past with a thick wall piece of pipe. But yes the 155 shaft will work.

Seiko LLW8BL issues with stitch formation
CowboyBob replied to ZIIK's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
The quickest way to test it is make a shim & put underneath the needle plate, loosen both screws but you can usually put it underneath the back screw. It should help to smooth the feed dog hole too.
