  1. The tension release only works when you pick up the foot,it has nothing to do with tension settings.Have you taken the adjuster nut off & taken the discs out to check for grooves & or lint or dirt on them?
  2. No,when you flip the base over the holes for the pedals will be further away from your feet like you want.
  3. No 346 won't work,I have a customer here in town that is using#277 BUT it is on vinyl for top stitching cars seats,on leather you have more friction with the larger needle & you just can't get enough foot pressure to hold the leather down so it will skip stitches & break thread if you go much over 1/4" thickness with a bigger needle #25 that the larger thread requires.
  4. You can flip the base over & then the pedals will be towards the back. This will take alittle work because you'll have to take the head off the table, lay the stand down, unbolt the base, take the pedals off & re-install on the otherside, put the castors on the otherside & bolt the column back on.
  5. Some of these 145's are for binding & the feed dog didn't lift ,sounds like what you have.
  6. We have a few New 205's here but they don't have the slot in them for the binder.
  7. I hate to tell you,we service a lot of these models & the term Heavy Duty is more of a sales pitch than a machine made for heavy material. If you want to sew thin leather or any other heavier material you would stand a much better chance by getting an old black Singer 15-91 they are built very similar to an Industrial machine & take #69 nylon thread w/o much problems.
  8. @katit Your right sometimes this is the case but this model of Singer doesn't have a safety clutch.
  9. When your trying to touchup a hook like this never take any metal off the outside, just the inside,I would say it could be saved with careful sanding, use some 220 emery to get rid of the burr & then smooth it up with some finer emery. You might also want to get a new hook on order for backup.
  10. There is no troubleshooting, just get the button in the slot & push the handwheel towards you for a longer stitch. When you force it all the way long or short you have to give it that much force to get it to change.
  11. Great idea!! Looks like it should work as needed.
  12. It's easiest to use what table is setup for.
  13. Yes,those will work. The one hinge behind the needle on a double needle is in a different place so you'll have to router out a new hole OR you could drill a different hole in the machine. Most double needles have a bed that's 1&1/2" longer than a single needle so you'll need to fill the gap in too.
  14. When you push the button down while turning the handwheel, keep turning it until it goes into the slot, keep pushing it down & turn the wheel towards you for a longer stitch.Never push the button when the machine is in motion.
  15. I double checked & I found a supplier that has it in stock.
  16. Some 227's have reverse,if you can see a pic it'll have a lever on the front rightside for reverse.
  17. DFH is right, oil is the best, clear mineral sewing machine oil.The grease can dry up & cause the roller to stop turning & make a flat spot on it.
  18. We only have some size #16LR in stock, the other sizes are all diamond points. We can get any size you want.
  19. They are the same length but the 128x6 is a leather point & the 16x231 is a round point.
  20. It's a good idea to make a sample of the thickness you want to sew & test it first. It would also help to use #277 in the bobbin,346 is real hard to pull up in stiffer leathers.
  21. Glenn,It's a 30-5 isn't that a low lift large bobbin? Bob
  22. That is some really nice looking work you've done there.
  23. Nice try but I checked & they don't have it.It probably could be brazed if he has all the parts.
