  1. We have a few New 205's here but they don't have the slot in them for the binder.
  2. I hate to tell you,we service a lot of these models & the term Heavy Duty is more of a sales pitch than a machine made for heavy material. If you want to sew thin leather or any other heavier material you would stand a much better chance by getting an old black Singer 15-91 they are built very similar to an Industrial machine & take #69 nylon thread w/o much problems.
  3. @katit Your right sometimes this is the case but this model of Singer doesn't have a safety clutch.
  4. When your trying to touchup a hook like this never take any metal off the outside, just the inside,I would say it could be saved with careful sanding, use some 220 emery to get rid of the burr & then smooth it up with some finer emery. You might also want to get a new hook on order for backup.
  5. There is no troubleshooting, just get the button in the slot & push the handwheel towards you for a longer stitch. When you force it all the way long or short you have to give it that much force to get it to change.
  6. Great idea!! Looks like it should work as needed.
  7. It's easiest to use what table is setup for.
  8. Yes,those will work. The one hinge behind the needle on a double needle is in a different place so you'll have to router out a new hole OR you could drill a different hole in the machine. Most double needles have a bed that's 1&1/2" longer than a single needle so you'll need to fill the gap in too.
  9. When you push the button down while turning the handwheel, keep turning it until it goes into the slot, keep pushing it down & turn the wheel towards you for a longer stitch.Never push the button when the machine is in motion.
  10. I double checked & I found a supplier that has it in stock.
  11. Some 227's have reverse,if you can see a pic it'll have a lever on the front rightside for reverse.
  12. DFH is right, oil is the best, clear mineral sewing machine oil.The grease can dry up & cause the roller to stop turning & make a flat spot on it.
  13. We only have some size #16LR in stock, the other sizes are all diamond points. We can get any size you want.
  14. They are the same length but the 128x6 is a leather point & the 16x231 is a round point.
  15. It's a good idea to make a sample of the thickness you want to sew & test it first. It would also help to use #277 in the bobbin,346 is real hard to pull up in stiffer leathers.
  16. Glenn,It's a 30-5 isn't that a low lift large bobbin? Bob
  17. That is some really nice looking work you've done there.
  18. Nice try but I checked & they don't have it.It probably could be brazed if he has all the parts.
  19. Comes with it on from the factory with a Juki.
  20. The thick thread isn't being pulled up through the leather because it's a lot stiffer than the canvas. This is why people use a size smaller thread in the bobbin then on the top because it will pull up in the leather easier.
  21. If you have a small punch or even an all metal old screwdriver lay it down @ an angle & hit the outer part of the screw in the slot the direction to unloosen it works everytime for me.
  22. Similar to a Singer 211,probably can use #138 thread.
  23. The brake on the model is a short piece of round leather belting, you can see it in the first pic just to the right of the off-on switch,it's pushing against the outer part of the pulley & looks like it's wornout & needs to be replaced.A new stronger spring as suggested might help.
  24. The last time I talked with Schmetz they wanted an order of 10,000.
  25. I know of a Amishman that sells them he stocks 230,250 & 280 he gets $3.50 ea. for them You can PM me for his ph# if you need any.
