I use Egyptian for thread also. Just a heads up if you don't but the full spools and get the shorter runs of Tiger they respool and sell. It's on a smaller spool obviously so it can want to twist on you as stitching. Just a heads up. Never had it happen off my full spools just the smaller spools. No fault of Egyptian just the nature of unwinding and rewinding it. I get the full spools when it's a color I know I will be using or can use again. It is .06 a meter for full and .30 a meter for 20 meter spools.

Made a wrist cuff. Didn't turn out to bad. Actually the second attempt the one I made yesterday came out 1/4 inch to short so had another go. My daughter was down this weekend so she was in shop with me. She made 2 keychain for her grandparents a bracelet for her and a back back for Barbie. Lol

NEW Tandy Stitching Pony only $22.99 !! Amazon
Mattsbagger replied to myjtp's topic in Leatherwork Conversation
Sometimes I will take the bolt out and use a pistol grip style bar clamp. Sometim I just clamp it to outside of pony with same style clamp. Like when I do a bag. Anything I can get to work so I have 2 hands to stitch. -
Sounds good thanks.

Are the snaps from Buckle Guy any better than Tandy? I got some tri glides that were good quality. I hand set snaps and the Tandy ones are not working out for me. Had a couple fail on my own stuff and don't want to send any out. Or where do people recommend getting quality snaps. I use 20 and 24 mostly.

Yep looks like what I was saying. I can't work out the size or thickness as it's not what we use in America. But yes it's undyed and unfinished. It looks to be the split which is rough on both sides. There is no "smooth" side. It is the part that was taken off to make other leather to make it thinner. So I don't think you want it for wallets. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong. I have known to be.lol Ta. Matt.

From the title it sounds like you are talking about veg tanned leather that hasn't been dyed or finished yet. Split refers to making the leather thinner. What thickness is it? I use 3oz for interior and 4/5 for the body. You can stamp and dye then put whatever finish you prefer on it. I prefer atom wax or carnuba cream as a finish. This is all contingent on me reading title correctly. If you can post a link to specific leather or pic people can help more. Ta. Matt.
