  1. Yep he has some good videos. He is also on here as Dangerous Beans. You can send message if have any questions. He also has classes if you can get to England.
  2. If you can still see the cut its to deep and or your beveling is not deep enough. Not a tooler but from what I've practiced and saw from people is 1/3 depth on the cutting is sufficient. 1/2 is to deep. But the guys who do it every day will have better advise. As to OP I like the wallet. I want to try my hand at that style.
  3. The gum trag might be the problem. It doesn't let did penetrate well. I burnish as a last step.
  4. Guess it goes without saying. It also will fit a G26,G27,G33 and on and on since it don't matter much how much of the barrel sticks out the bottom if it's in your pants.lol That opinion is mine and not shared by all I know.
  5. Don't even need to be a carver just doing some stamping like I do. But the old lady has put the kybosh on buying anything till we go to Sheridan. Lol She apparently has a load of cash stashed for the trip. Hopefully her idea of a load of cash and mine are the same.
  6. Which Fiebing's black are you using? Are you buffing excess pigment off and letting dry 12 to 24 hrs before Resoline? Is your Resoline 100% or 50/50 with water.? Also pictures would help.
  7. Trying out a ALW pattern. IWB 2. Lots different on assembly from other holsters I've done and a bit faffy sewing by hand. I didnt spend a lot of time on the edges because it was a trial run and I will use for a bit to see if I like it and maybe want to start making for others.
  8. Old tshirts mainly. Cut them up, and when they get dirty I throw them away. Charity shops are a good place to get them. I put neetsfoot on with a dauber or sponge.
  9. I was my buffing cloths and only use for buffing with Aussie. For dye my best results have come from the orange Tandy high density sponges. One for each color so no color transfer. Just rinsed in the sink after use and left to dry. YMMV.
  10. They will send you the part they split off too if you ask. You can use it to as a stiffener between two lighter layers of leather if you want. Also HO is price comparable if you can swing the minimum and order from the tannery. Lol
  11. Them are pretty cool. I like the colors expecially. I like the one with the strap. Is it a pocket flap or just decorative?
  12. Glue, sand edges, then I use dividers or a creaser to mark my stitch line. Then I use stitching chisels. If don't have them or want to awl stitch. Use an over stitch wheel or fork or dividers( walking down the stitch line) to mark evenly spaced marks for your awl. Check out the basic hand stitching video in the how do you do section. By Nigel Armitage. He is also on this site as Dangerous beans. And on YouTube under Armitage Leather. Well worth watching many times.
  13. 2 choices for getting stitching straight. Chisels. Or Practice, practice and more practice. Looks good.
  14. Need a long straight edge to get your self a true straight edge on your side then a strap cutter.://www.tandyleather.com/en/product/craftool-strap-cutterhttps://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://www.tandyleather.com/en/how-to-use-the-strap-cutter.html&ved=0ahUKEwjL8Yud4rvSAhVkzIMKHSEsAF8QFghjMAE&usg=AFQjCNGND4VnLNhOqDAiVcEg3ggWkPUGbw&sig2=w0ik95GXYE6XcilCF94hbg. I find it easy and accurate.
  15. Make sure you stay away from the US MC from Fiebings apparently you will have to spend days buffing the excess off. Love the Pro dye never needed more than one coat. Good luck.
  16. All you need is a hole punch the size of the rivets or snaps you plan to use. A bag punch/oblong punch for belt slots. A oval or round punch for the tongue of the belt. Above listed templates are handy for marking where to punch.
  17. I've never used eco flo dye. Never needed more than one coat of Fiebing's pro oil. Have to buff well to get any pigment off surface. For multiple colors on same piece might wanna look into cova colors. Acrylic paint by eco flo.
  18. More info needed. What brand and style. ie: spirit based or water based. Fiebings or eco flow.

    Mauls

2lbs usually heavy enough for what I do.
  20. Ya there's a guy on here that uses wood stain to dye his leather. Cant remember name right now. Eastern European uses a German stain.
  21. That's the way I read it. The caiman and others are on a separate listing so I read it that you get all pictured in this post. But that's how I read it since it's not my post. "Shrug"
  22. I saw at home depot this weekend in the paint section were Sharpie alcohol based paint markers. Don't know if different from regular or nah. They had multiple colors and even some that were metallic. Haven't tried just mention it. I have used sharpies before with good results.
