  1. Hey, man, you finished it! That looks great! Nice looking edges, too. -Ryan
  2. I made a rifle scabbard for my saddle and lined it with synthetic wool. It turned out pretty good and I like it was worth the cost. If you use real wool you may want to shave it down a bit as it is a lot denser than the synthetic and you might have trouble stitching the edges of the case together. Not sure if that helps or not. -Ryan
  3. Have fun with the next sheath! Send me pics!
  4. I just sandwiched it between two pieces of leather; the top piece just has "windows." Yes, I removed the shedding scale coves with a knife. Just hold it at a 90 degree angle to the hide and scrape 'em off.
  5. haha! lol! yeah, I did it for kicks and grins. Aw, shucks... I haven't worn it in front of any girls yet... but you never know.... it just might make me a chick-magnet and a big catch.
  6. Thanks. I will do that and let you know what happens. The nfo keeps it flexible enough to tie but at the same time it bleeds into clothing. Hmmm...
  7. It takes about 2-3 weeks to tan one. Sometimes 1 week if it dries quickly. It could have been tighter but most of what you see is the leather that got pushed out a bit when the needle went through. But I would go a little tighter next time.
  8. Thanks. I hope it won't always be too oily. I dipped it in water and it seems a lot of oil came out but not enough. I wonder if I should dip it in water again or if that would be bad for the leather. Any ideas?
  9. @Rossr I'm thinking of using resolene after I get as much oil out as possible. Does anyone think resolene will help keep the oil from bleeding into clothing? Thanks. -Ryan
  10. I currently have it wrapped in a towel and a box on top so we will see how that goes.
  11. Oh, right.... (I'm home schooled and currently on break)
  12. I'm sitting here waiting for someone MY age.... Where are you, teens?!?
  13. You like those emojis, don't you?
  14. sometimes all it takes is a hammer... Good job!
  15. I did that on a sheath one time. Now I'm waiting for another knife that size to make a left-handed sheath. I agree with Jake... make it look intentional. You never know. You just might start a new fad with rough-out knife sheaths! -Ryan
  16. 16 and old young enough to say I'm ignorant and eager to learn. (I'm a baby leatherworker here.) -Ryan
  17. Thanks guys! @Rohn It's not a clip-on. You have to tie it. @JMcC LOL! not everything I make has rattlers in it you know. I have a question for anyone who can help. I oiled this tie a lot to get it flexible enough to tie but think I over-oiled it and it doesn't look like it will dry any time soon. Any suggestions for fixing this so my shirts don't get oil around the collar? Thanks! -Ryan
  18. Ok, guys. This should make you smile... Enjoy! All of the tooling was my own design. The leather is 3-4 oz. veg belly. Comments or critique is always welcome! -Ryan
  19. Thank you all for the kind words. I appreciate it. Here are some more photos including a photo of the back. Thanks, again! -Ryan
  20. I'll get some more pics hopefully later today. Ryan
