  1. I'm already doing some test runs on some scrap while I get the hang of it all. Thanks Again Bob.
  2. So after much reading here and watching tons of videos I made a decision on buying the CB3200. I gave Bob at Toledo Industrial a call made a short 2.5 hr drive up to him. He walked me around the machine showing me the oil points how to thread the needle, wind the bobbins. I also got the left and right feet with roller guide and the inline feet and a couple bobbins of thread. Got it home and set up quickly. Now time to do some practice before I figure out what the first pice will be.
  3. Did you dye the leather white first or did you dye/paint it after? Or is the decal left on?

It works well, what I'd change if I were to do it again. Make clam arms wider than the strap keepers. They are just barely wider now. Instead of the turn buckle I'd probably use a threaded bolt connector.
  5. Yep re-did some last night luckily I figured out the stitch was bad before I got too far along. If your not finished you can unsew it if you’ve finished get out the craft knife. Had to redo a whole purse earlier this year.
  6. Very nice those could be used for many things besides marbles.
  7. When I do fire fighter radio straps I dye, seal, paint and reseal.

I’ve made one complete one with out it and attempted 2 more but getting the corners right with out it I couldn’t do. I’ve got two watch boxes to make and need to get them right.
  9. Not my stuff! I'd shoot them an email.
  10. Here ya go bottom part of the page http://www.usacuttingdie.com/die-examples.html
  11. It’ll be a new cowboy machine, not sure what yet.
  12. I'm saddle stitching part of it is probably cause I don't do it all the time so my fingers/hands are fatigued. I've sewn a good 10hrs in the last 2days on this one bag. I'd like to get more into making things and selling them and there's no way I can do that and it be more than a hobby hand stitching everything. While im not familiar with the 441 style machines I'm proficient with a sewing machine and expect a learning curve.
  13. Yep this purse is killing my hands. That's quite a bit of sewing, I'm glad I'm not keeping track of my time but I've watched the last season of Longmire and quite a few episodes of Top Gear. I've spoken to Bob at Toledo industrial just need to make the trip up north.
  14. This ones for the wife sooooo... I did it, told her it's the last one I do by hand. I've got way too many hours in it to ever make any money.
  15. I've been hand sewing a purse for my wife and while I don't mind doing small items or items that just can't be done with a machine. This purse is killing my hand and made me realize there is no way I can keep up hand sewing this a machine will do hours faster. Time for me to make the investment in a machine.
  16. While I don't have a machine I have been looking at them a lot lately and reading a ton here. The size of thread you want:need your machine to run will be greatly dependent on what you intend to sew i.e. upholstery, wallets, bags, purses, holsters, belts, dog collars, harnesses, saddles. You are correct the larger the thread number i.e. 98, 138, 207, 277, the thicker the thread is and the higher the breaking strength.
  17. You won't have just one, I started with a cheap adjustable one, bought a nicer one from Springfield leather and I'm sure I'll collect a few more of them. I'd go mid range if you can't actually put your hands on one, length and barrel size can make a big difference in comfort.

It's the piece on the right, it holds your two pieces at 90 degrees to be sewn together after being glued. The piece on the left is used to skive the edge of your leather at 45 degrees with either a knife or French Edger. ^^^ should show you exactly how it's used.
