  1. I'm not sure if the conditioner will impact the finish or not. But I suggest testing the process out on a scrap piece of leather.
  2. Thanks Wiz, the plate says 23-4 I scoured the web and could only find the parts list on it.
  3. I came across a singer 23-4 but can not find anything on it except a parts list. Is it a cobbler machine that will leave marks on veg tan? Whats it capable of doing?
  4. My suggestion 16oz Polly maul for tooling and a weighted rawhide mallet or Polly mallet for setting stamps/rivets/hole punches.
  5. This find your niche in what you like to make and do it really well!
  6. I really need to pick one up, I will dye the ends when I get back to work as I don't like the unfinished look. I was in a hurry to get it done and it's an easy fix. I like the dragon scales but man they are time consuming to do on that big of a piece.
  7. Fire88

    Snap fasteners

I've used tubular rivets instead of the "caps" or "backer" stud.
  8. Why not veg tan? If it's not getting dunked in the river I'd think it'd be fine if seal it. You can tool it/stamp then line it with pig?
  9. Need to find out what badge he intends to use i.e. Sheriff, police, fire, military. So the badge area is generally two layers the back piece has two slots for the "pin" to secure to, the top layer is has the badge outline cut into it, this is so the badge sets flushish and doesn't cause a really odd hump in the wallet.
  10. If doing a curve copy the curve onto a piece of poster board, lay stamps on the outside side of curve mark where each letter lines up. Lay that template on your leather and stamp away. The firefighter that showed this showed it on a shield he was making.
  11. A new single piece radio strap I made for myself , custom 1.25" IAFF stamp, Barry King scale stamp gone over with a backgrounder.
  12. That is sweet, very very well done.
  13. depends on what your friends carry, but glock 19/23, XDM/S, Springfield XD, j frame revolver. Need to look at your market/demographic and what is carried around you.
  14. Those are very nice bags and I'm sure you'll sell them fairly easily.
  15. It looks clean and is from an upholstery shop, I'm guessing it has a clutch motor and is set up to run way faster than I need or can control. I'd mainly use it for doing bags or the like probably no more than 10oz at most if I did a bag out of veg tan. I'm not sure where this "hobby" will take me and what I may end up doing later on and realize most have more than one machine. One for bags/wallets n such and one for holsters/tack/collars/saddles.
