  1. My 1st marriage years ago was horrible, we had big problems from the start! As an example we had a Dalmatian dog that stayed in the backyard, one day when I got home from work the dog had tried to jump the chain link fence and I found him hanging from the fence. So I always say my 1st marriage was so bad my dog hung himself. True story but this marriage has lasted 36 wonderful years and the good Lord willing it will last numerous more. As I have always said there is nothing better than a good marriage and nothing worse than a bad one. I’ve had both!
  2. I use both Barry King and Ron’s edgers, it all depends on the thickness of the leather and brand of edgers you use as to what size! A #2 in one brand very likely is not the same size in another brand! I believe the Leather Crafters Journal published an article on the size differences of different brands a few months ago but can’t seem to find the article aT the moment. I know this just makes things more confusing but that’s the way it is!
  3. It looks like you used a shader rather than a beveled! Can you show a picture of the beveled ? The face of it. Most of the chinese stamping tools are not worth bringing home, but there are some exceptions
  4. Looks great, I think antique is the only way to go but that’s just me!
  5. I meet Jim once a long time ago, don’t remember where, maybe at aTandy’s anyway he is a very nice guy! I’ve been doing this for a little over 60 years off and on and still learn something most everyday! If you get to where you know it all about anything you are in trouble.
  6. I don’t own a cub but I am sure if you contact Weaver they would be able to help, or return!
  7. Thanks, I appreciate the info and phone #!
  8. I picked up a Horsewright round knife today with sheath made inTemachapi, Ca. In excellent shape! Does not have a ferrel and is dark hardwood about 4” tip to tip. Any idea of value? I found makers web site but no prices on round knives. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Rodney
  9. From one Texan to another, That looks dang good!

    Dior cover

That is a beauty! By the way 53 years ago I was in Danang.
  11. Using one heavy piece, say 6 oz and one thin 2 or 3 oz use the lighter for liner and curve to glue as previous stated .
  12. Looks great but I am with you, spend all the time tooling then someone wants it covered up with a dark dye! That is a pretty color and doesn’t hide things near as much as a dark brown or black! If you figure out the younger generation please let all us older folks know!
  13. Great work! Hope everyone in La. are doing well. Good to see you back.
  14. Different tanneries take antique and dye differently, if you want consistently I would suggest sticking with Herman Oak or Wickett and Craig you will find both take antique and dyes extremely well.
  15. I will give you a call tomorrow , it’s a little late tonight! Is that your best price? I am about 230 miles from OKC! Give it some thought. Thanks Rodney

    ugly a-- hat

That belongs behind a pine tree in Mississippi! Lol
  17. It seems like all edgers by different mfg. are different in size, a #2 Barry King is smaller than a #2 Craftool! The Barry King comes sharp and ready to use, much sharper than the craftool, it will hold an edge longer and thus you don’t need to sharpen very often, just strop. If you are edging 4 to 5 oz total leather I use #2 , but a #3 will work as well it depends on the edge you want. Hope this helps! Rodney
  18. I would recommend saving a little more money and get a #2 or #3 Barry King they are worth the difference in price!
  19. If you are skiving you need a skiver or French edger not a regular edger! I don’t think you could find any more interests could you! Lol
