A simple Volt-Ohm meter can confirm a short by checking the resistance on the unplugged power lead between the ground lead and either of the other two prongs or between the two prongs.

Stitch Length HELP needed Consew 287R
stelmackr replied to CustomDoug's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
I've had too many of those ruined screw heads. I've purchased some screw drivers that are marketed for gunsmithing. Just search for "screw drivers for gunsmithing". I assume they are similar to the electrician’s screw drivers, that Uwe mentioned. -

Ferdco Pro-2000 ... Which Machine Base?
stelmackr replied to bcurrier's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
On a side note for FERDCO. I've had three of their machines: Pro-2000 (sold it), Pro-TK-1245 (phaff clone) and Pro 206H (consew clone) In all the years I've owned them, I've never, never had a skipped stich. What ever they did to modify the them was great. I think their patent has run out and maybe others will pick it up and make sewing easier for all of us. -

Check with https://hoffmanbrothers.com/leather-machines/ They bought out the FERDCO machines and all the parts when FERDCO terminated their business. -
Traps and Cats. Almost impossible to make air tight. Those damn mice can get through the smallest crack or hole. Don't ask me how I know....

Price range is much like those of a bladesmith work. I usually purchase Bob's tools at the leather shows he attends like the Rocky Mountain Leather show in Sheridan, WY in May. Whatever I've paid for them in the past, I can sell them for more now. Here is a sampling of the tool impressions ( https://www.pinterest.com/pin/98094098114540664/ ). Call him, (505) 632-7039 and ask your questions. Or send him a Facebook message. I used to live in England and had Bob send me the tools I needed and paid the price of his tools and the duty, just to get his pebble grained tools. For a cheaper price and a comparable quality the Barry King tool are worth their price and hold their value.
