  1. This what I used before I purchased the Weaver 4 Ton press.: https://www.talasonline.com/Nipping-Press?quantity=1&size=12 BTW I bought that Mighty Wonder 4 ton for $999 at the Sheridan Leather Show about 5-years ago. And to be honest, the book press, as I calculated with screw pitch and handle length and my hand force, performed almost as well as the 4-ton press, but I need something that was quicker to use and the Weaver press just fits the bill. Also, the Weaver press has a "over-cam" action that you can set and leave for a long time to get a good embossed image for large images. By "over-cam", I mean, to continue to pull down the handle there is a spot where to pressure begins to lesson. Leave it at the top of the cam and the handle stays put with maximum pressure indefinitely. (I purchased my book press in UK for about ($160USD) at a swap meet --SCORE!)
  2. Google says: https://www.google.com/search?q=embossing+wheels+for+leather&rlz=1C1CHFX_enUS715US715&oq=wembossing+wheels+for+&aqs=chrome.2.69i57j0i13l2.11893j1j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8
  3. Grey Ghost Graphics https://greyghostgraphics.com/ I then take the stamp and have it milled down to height to 0.918 inches, which is in the printing industry known as "Type High". That allows me to use various metal letterpress letters and designs, in a chase, to emboss leather. I have a little article dealing with embossing leather with letterpress type at: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1qgV6aH_FkHa5lBX_kNceroW2elQju_XW/view?usp=sharing Here is a sample of what I make:
  4. I've had some luck by using a section of a large diameter PVC pipe to press the circumference, as that last embossing:
  5. I was in the Navy, but not with VA 34. I can't make suspenders like yours because I was in a training organization: FASOTRAGRUPAC and that wouldn't fit ;-) (FASOTRAGRUPAC = Fleet Aviation Support Group Pacific)
  6. While I was the editor for PSLAC (Puget Sound Leather Artisans Co-Op) I used to write some stuff about aspects of simple leather home ideas for part-time hobby/sales stuff. One article shows the use of concrete tubes for storage and also purchasing 12" x 12" x 48" shipping boxes and stacking tubes or boxes. Looking back at the articles, see how shallow and crude they were. Wish I had the time to redo/rewrite them. Anyway, here is the article: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1dWOphSBFpccqICs7f4AFUJkaQ8fC4fck/view Edit: BTW Brettuns Village Leather no longer offers a discount if you are a PSLAC member. Never-the-less Brettuns Village Leather ( https://www.brettunsvillage.com/leather/ )does have some amazing prices and free shipping. They also have a Wednesday DOTW (Deal Of The Week)

  8. A good friend sent me the carving pattern. Time to start the project for another friend.
  9. I own the Robb Barr DVD to make the Rainbow Trout carving. I made the carving many years ago, but I wanted to make another for a gift, but I've misplaced the pattern. Does anyone have one I could borrow or even just a clear photo of it? Thanks in advance.
  10. I had forgotten the reasons for "flagging" so I did a quick search and found some good descriptions: http://www.amefird.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/MinimizingThread-BreakageSkips-2-5-10.pdf
  11. I might have also misunderstood the question. Here is a manual (not exactly your model number) that gives directions to change the slow start up speed: https://www.consew.com/Files/112347/InstructionManuals/CSM1000.pdf
