I asked David this and he suggested I post this here for all to see exactly what I am talking about.... got a couple of questions.... on this passenger seat... I didnt go with the wet and stretch method... what I did was cut a wide strip, then cut a 10 inch piece the same width to cover the back, carved it, and then fit it to the larger strip that wraps around the rest of the seat, then attached the back piece to the sides with single loop lace and then tucked it all under and stapled it.... I might now do back and rivet it but thats for later. now my issue is the top... the sides go straight up, while the sides of the foam curve up to the top.... I see that if I cut the top the same size as the sides and front and back that whole thing will have an empty spot going all around at that seam, and I intend to use the round braid lace so it will pull the two leathers together and make then come flesh to flesh instead of edge to edge as I want.... if I cut the top smaller I am going to have wrinkles and it might even twist on me.... I am clueless on how to resume at this point.... The black piece in the pix is the top from the original cover, it is not what I intend to use for the top. I haven't cut it yet. Any direction would be appreciated.... Thanks Mike

There was a method of using the engraver on the xray film..... thats the one I am looking for... Indiana, you mean for the ink to transfer from the plastic to the leather? Hilly, not a bad idea... those would have to be deep cuts wouldnt they?

Very cool, thank you Froggy....

ebay changes & boycott Feb 18-25
wolvenstien replied to unicornwoman's topic in Marketing and Advertising
Timbo, I cant argue with you about this because I do agree with the inflated Shipping and the "hidden" fees.... But... When I buy anything, in a retail store, at the flea market, or on eBay, I add together the price of the item (or the price I am willing to pay) and the taxes.... or shipping.... to the total so i know how much i am about to pay.... If I am looking at an item on ebay and the BIN is $20, and the shipping is $50... thats a total of $70..... am I willing to pay $70 for the item? How much is it new and local? is this total a good deal? Then I make my decision from there.... Same thing when I go to TLF I go look at an item, look the item up in the price guide, and see it is $10... I know the tax here is 9.25% so I automatically add 10% to it for a total of $11.00... do I want to pay this much for the item? Electric sniping is wrong.... but I cant say it is "CHEATING".... if I get sniped at the last second as I have.... and I was actually willing to pay more for the item than what I did bid... then it is my fault for loosing the bid... I should have bid my very vighest willing bid and then if I were to get sniped the sniper would be a not to mention a But then again.... Now those that use a third party electronic means of sniping to me are cheating. Just like the guys on the baseball teams who have been using steroids and winning games... the roids help.... no ifs ands or buts about it.... and using an electron means of last second bidding (sniping) gives you an unfair advantage over everyone else..... it's cheating.... just my 2 cents.... -
Well said.....

Love the colors.... Very nice carving.

Before the crash, we had a topic going about how to make your own craftaid for carving patterns that you would do over and over.... I have gotten ahold of some exposed x-ray film and an up and down engraver.... not I just need to know the technique to do it....

David, IMHO, the braiding is extra.... it is not needed, but is is awesome. Especially on this one with the contrast in colors.... But no, it is not NEEDED. But I would be very proud to have my butt sitting on one of your customs!

wolvenstien replied to gunfighter48's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
Damned foreigners or not.... I honestly think we should go metric on everything and loose the SAE system..... one universal measuring system like they intend to do with the universal money.... -
