  2. I like and i think a lot of folk will too. Minimalist and something. easy and light to carry.
  3. man o man that nice work. Awesome way to fill that negative space.
  4. There have been three threads on this same subject in the last week. A tool, a good tool doesn't need fixed before you can use it. Doesn't need you to do half the work its intended to do. That's why its a tool its to make life easier not harder, more complicated ,or more difficult. No one would buy a new car and expect to crawl under it and start working on it just to get it to go. Just from from the many pictures it is not hard to see it is terrible manufacturing, everything from poor foundry work, terrible machining to a tripod stand that wouldn't hold up a iPhone. Its appears to be a copy of the old singer made 120 years ago with one exception the one 120 years old worked right out of the box was better machined with better casting and many are still in service. By the time you punch all the holes by hand your halfway done and stitching isn't the hard part. I would like to see one person that can sew a foot/12 inches with this machine without pre-punching, making a decent stitch on both sides and no feet marks, something that would be saleable. It was designed to sew, moving the material without marring, punching the holes and inserting the thread, tightening the stitch neatly on both sides and ending with a backstitch.
  5. yea and it was great!!! when used with the potentiometer of my electric train set lol. i think it may have been my first wood burning kit too lol. Damn it was fun being a kid back then.
  6. I trust Frodo's impression of it! But I've been on the fence as well. My problem is I want to buy it more for the idea of getting the piece of crap to work than to sew with it. I'm not gonna waste expensive leather on this i make to many mistakes already.
  7. some one asked the same question back awhile ago. The link on the last page of the catalog looks like the web page was sold off. found this! https://files.3dsellers.com/pdf_catalog/dDk0Um0zZEd5NCtXUEY2QXBGWVVxQT09/9452.pdf here is another supplier if you just want the cobra style but i didn't look through the whole sight for other styles. https://edcleather.com/product/cobra-rifle-sling-template-set/
  8. thanks I this may jumpstart my old sketchy ways lol.
  9. I bought a pyrography set the other day to sign my leather and wood products with. It is a cheapo set but i found it quite fun to sketch with. I'm kinda rusty at sketching and new at the burners but can see this may be another avenue in leather decorating for me.
  10. maybe some other natural fiber type stuff like cotton webbing in the hidden areas.
  11. Where did you source a 30 dollar servo motor? the cheapest i can find is about 100. Plus a guy would need other parts as well wouldn't they like v belt and pulleys, foot peddle and cost to build or buy a decent stable table.
  12. and maybe a couple of crazy old farts that run on about everything. Welcome and maybe a couple of crazy old farts that run on about everything. Welcome
  13. Very nice indeed! perfect spacing on the edges i can never get that right.
  14. Awesome!! You have a great technique figured out for sure and it does show on your work. Thank you for the answer to my questions! I may have to ask Mrs. Clause for one now.
  15. so basically you are just using it to put the thread through pre-punched holes and not really using it for the whole process? Can you explain why or is it because it doesn't do a good enough job? "Nobodies paying hard cash for something with shoddy looking stitches." I'm not knocking your process your work is awesome but if it wont actually do a good job of sewing the whole process just like the expensive ones can do then folks should know what this machine can really do.
  16. outstanding!!!! start a thread and share your secrets on fine tuning this thing! you seem to be the exception to the rule. lol
  17. you may try vinegar but do a test sample i've never tried it on leather. Vinegar kills most molds and is used on dried meats, cheeses and such to kill the molds.
  18. i use those heavy paper clothes/cookie boxes we get at Christmas time. I trace around them so they never wear out and dont bring any more plastic garbage into the world.
