  1. I don't use Resoline on anything, but I would think that it would seal the surface from accepting any oil afterwards.
  2. As a carpenter I can assure you that most people will not see what you think is a flaw. WE are our own toughest critics. And my wife is still using the checkbook cover I made her 30 years ago.
  3. My guess would be how the hide is treated before tanning. Also the ingredients used in the tanning. I had double shoulder from Tandy that smelled like piss when it was wet.
  4. Weaver leather is another source. And +1 on Mavrick and Montana. Weaver Leather Supply - Leathercrafting and Leatherworking Supplies
  5. Here it is finished. I'm looking at doing a Santa picture that will have similar air treatment.
  6. Looks pretty good. Do you have access to a hair blade or hair 'pen'? Also, cutting in major groups of hair will give more definition. This is NOT my work, but it will show what I'm talking about.
  7. Yes, more info would help.
  8. Excellent! Any woman I know would be very happy with that!
  9. It looks like you are getting it figured out. But don't be afraid to take it a bit further. I'm not a pro by any means, but look at these
  10. I, for one, am SPHERICAL above my hip bones.
  11. Hi from central Washington. I'll echo DJole, good people and a wealth of knowledge and experience.

    Ommm........ommm.......on the range......
  13. If I may suggest, rather than a straight line put some curve to it for more 'flow'. Also practice 'fading' it in and out, if that makes sense.
  14. Organization is HIGHLY overrated!
  15. Very nice! Oak leaves are one of my favorite subjects to carve.
  16. Exactly. I've used many contact adsives in 45 years of building, but never heard of this one. Can't use something if you don't know it exists.
  17. I use a dauber most of the time. Up and down once, back and forth once. And finally spiraling out from the center. The looks will even out with bit of buffing to remove excess pigment and a light oiling.
  18. There are older sets listed on bay. I have found a few that were reasonably priced.
  19. Looking good!
  20. I would antique after molding. I suspect what you are getting is something similar to the discolored rings on a table from coffee cups.
  21. That was my first take, from a lathe.
  22. I like the effect on the flower. I've seen wood carving on chair backs that had the same look. Reversed kind of like looking at a photo negative.
  23. Both of them look just fine. The bear track came exceptionally nice.
  24. I agree with Chuck. I had a BK blade and found it to be no better than any of my others.
  25. Congrats! And I AM going to Pendleton this weekend, and will stop by.
