  1. The square ones will still give you a round edge after you burnish it.
  2. Nice rifle!! And leathercraft is an addiction, not a hobby. Welcome to the club. But I really need to ask, what is that HUGE encumbrance on the front of the rifle?
  3. I use the cereal boxes as well. Before I lost my little buddy, I used the Alpo Variety Snaps. They are twice as thick as cereal or cracker boxes. If I need more sq ft then I go to the college bookstore.
  4. We have a really great mailman. Ken drive in and honk and if we're not home e leaves the slip in the box. But if we have a sub, the lazy a..hole won't even bring it from t post office, just leaves the slip saying "No secure location".
  5. I went to their website last night and found that the only linen they have is far bigger than I use. So, I guess I won't be ordering/trying any of their products.
  6. I bought some at the Pendleton show a few years back, but the only size they had at the time was far larger than I use. Still haven't found a use for it, so I may have to order some of a smaller diameter. As for piercing the thread, I haven't done that in 20+ years, it's just not necessary. The wax can be cleared from the eye by a couple quick passes through a candle or lighter flame.
  7. Welcome from central Washington.
  8. I've been booted from a couple of forums for telling the other members the truth, that THEY were being jerks and driving new members away with their negativity and elitist attitudes. Some people can't handle the truth.
  9. Totally irrelevant. It probably occurred shortly after production. As many above have stated, it is a non-issue. You can either spend less than 5 minutes on them and start using them, or you can wait for however long it takes for one of the two companies to send you replacements that may have the same issue.
  10. Does not look like anything I would worry about. If you have any rouge rub it on a cloth and buff it out.
  11. Based on your pictures I would say That you want Line 24 snaps. Snaps - Nickel, Brass, Antique & Gunmetal - Montana Leather Company Amazon.com : line 24 snaps
  12. The link isn't working.
  13. I don't use Resoline on anything, but I would think that it would seal the surface from accepting any oil afterwards.
  14. As a carpenter I can assure you that most people will not see what you think is a flaw. WE are our own toughest critics. And my wife is still using the checkbook cover I made her 30 years ago.
  15. My guess would be how the hide is treated before tanning. Also the ingredients used in the tanning. I had double shoulder from Tandy that smelled like piss when it was wet.
  16. Weaver leather is another source. And +1 on Mavrick and Montana. Weaver Leather Supply - Leathercrafting and Leatherworking Supplies
  17. Here it is finished. I'm looking at doing a Santa picture that will have similar air treatment.
  18. Looks pretty good. Do you have access to a hair blade or hair 'pen'? Also, cutting in major groups of hair will give more definition. This is NOT my work, but it will show what I'm talking about.
  19. Yes, more info would help.
  20. Excellent! Any woman I know would be very happy with that!
  21. It looks like you are getting it figured out. But don't be afraid to take it a bit further. I'm not a pro by any means, but look at these
  22. I, for one, am SPHERICAL above my hip bones.
