  1. Here is the tool I was thinking of. There are 3 or 4 sizes. Obviously, this is on eBay, that was just the easiest place to find a picture of what I was referring to. VTG Craftool Co USA Leather Tool No. F899 Checkered Matting Figure Carving Stamp | eBay
  2. I don't use anything to 'finish' it. I use just as it is, other than a bit of saddle soap on the edges.
  3. Definitely on a roll there. One thing you might look into is one of the figure carving matting tools. That will fade your background out and make your flowers stand out even more.
  4. That is great! Very nice, and good colors.
  5. One tool you might consider is a checkered beveller. When used on your flower petals it will give better definition/shading between your petals where they overlap. But as a first go, well done. Keep at it.
  6. If you take a center punch and tap a few places on the face of the disc it will create small 'volcano' craters. The raised edges will bite the wood and should stop the turning. Don't get too aggressive.
  7. After the leather has passed the blade, it is not binding against the body of the cutter. It doesn't need to be tight past the blade, it just needs to stay tight AT the blade. I also punch a hole in the end of the strap that I hang on a screw hook under my bench so I can pull against that.
  8. I have the cardboard on the OTHER side of the tool. What you show has a wider strap going into a narrower exit, creating a bind.
  9. I gave them a look and liked what I saw. If shipping to the US isn't too bad, I will place an order.
  10. I no longer lace projects, but I didn't bevel the edges when I did.
  11. Arguing with fools like you is a waste of my time. It's obvious that you don't have a clue. Ignored.
  12. You SMELL rancid leather moron.
  13. Using vegetable oil on leather is idiotic!!!
  14. I am basing it on a lifetime of using on cast iron cookware. If it is not cooked on it WILL go rancid and needs to be scrubbed off and re-seasoned. Vegetable oil is a huge mistake.
  15. I know some use olive oil, but I would never use any other vegetable oil. It goes rancid and turns to a sticky glue.
  16. Veg oil?
  17. I really like all of their products I've used.
  18. +1 on the oil. And I never use my dyes full strength. Usually, I dilute 1:2 with alcohol. Then you can do repeated coats without too much darkening.
  19. Total BullSnot. A crappy excuse for a crappy tool.
  20. Very nice, clean lines. Very often simplicity is the best course.
  21. Neoprene. We use it on harnesses for sled dogs. It is the same stuff 'mouse pads' are made of and comes with or without the fabric facing.
  22. Lots of good advice above. And let me point out that you have your snap parts reversed. Generally speaking, the male part would go on the body of the sheath, and the female part on the flap. This is not written in stone, but that is the usual application.
  23. Made my wife a shooting bag for rendezvous. Then my granddaughter wanted one, and the grandson, and my wife's friend...........
  24. Most ANY supplier over Tandy. I do a lot with Maverick Leather in Bend, Or Home - Maverick Leather Company Or Montana Leather Co Online Leather Supplies | Montana Leather Company
  25. It is totally nonexistent. Went to add something RIGHT AFTER I posted, and NO Edit button!
