What do you intend to sew with the machine? How thick of leather will you sew? -
No, granite will dull your blades as fast as you skive.

I looked at a Consew 2050 on ebay, because it is an arm machine that hangs off the table, the servo motor is mounted with the pulley to the left. This creates a counter weight to offset the weight of the head hanging over the table. The servo motor should mount in the same holes as the clutch motor. It looks like a great machine,

This should work. http://www.campbell-randall.com/shop/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=830

Does Anyone Know What This Is It Wading Sealed Tandy Envelope
tnawrot2 replied to rickmc's topic in How Do I Do That?
WyomingSlick has the right idea. It is attached to a hole punch pliers, adjusted right it would put the hole in the center of the belt and the little tab would be put in the existing hole and it would space out your holes evenly. -
Need Some Insight On The Right Sewing Machine
tnawrot2 replied to itsnotsewez's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
Why do you need a double needle? Are you doing a lot of long straight seams? -
Have you seen one of aecollars.co.uk in person, how do you know that the studs are put on before sewing, There are some of the attachments that go out to the end, over the stitching, which means the studs were put on after the stitching.

Save up until you can afford one, I say $500.00 should buy a usable used machine. Or you could go to craigslist and hope for the best. You could go buy one from craigslist and it sews great until you get it home and start sewing with the thread you want. Cheap could be expensive.Too many people don't know anything about a sewing, they buy a machine and when it doesn't sew like they want they blame the machine instead of their lack of sewing knowledge. This happens when the don't match the needle to the thread, thread the machine wrong. force the machine taking it out of time, use thread too thick for the machine, and don't hold the top and bottom thread for the first three stitches. And by the way, one machine can't do it all. I have seven machines, Landis #3, Singer 97-10, 7-33, 111w155, 31-15,29k4 and a Juki 562.

Is Something Wrong With My Cutting Board?
tnawrot2 replied to ebdavison's topic in How Do I Do That?
You haven't told us what material your cutting board is made from.IMO the best cutting board is HDPE.. -
Put a large piece of cardboard under the pressure foot, big enough to catch the filings. Also put a small magnet to attract the filings.
-
What grade did you buy?
-
I used to make 250 dog collars every week. It would take me less than a minute to punch the end of 30. You have to have a solid work surface, I would lay my cutting pad on the concrete floor. And a mallet won't do the job, you need a 3 lb maul, and a heavy duty punch. If you want a quality product you need quality tools.

Steer Head On Fender Help Please
tnawrot2 replied to GrampaJoel's topic in Saddle Identification, Restoration & Repair
TexTan of Yoakum Texas is the company that puts Hereford on the fenders. -
With that report I guess I won't be going to the Amish auction in Pa. in July. The one last year in Shipshewana was worth going.

Take pressure off the foot, manually position the needle where you want it at the corner, pierce the leather and bring the needle up 1/4' from bottom, turn material 90 degrees and continue sewing. If you are sewing multiples of the same size, try adjusting your stitch length.

Before you turn the object 90 degrees, stop with the needle in the down position, raise the needle 1/4", turn the object and continue sewing. -
I Need A Consew Presser Foot Education
tnawrot2 replied to georgeandgracie's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
What are you making, I normally keep a 1/2" seam allowance when I sew something when I turn it . Are you sewing a raw edge? BTW 111w feet will fit your machine, and I bought this set. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Singer-111W-211W-153W-Walking-Foot-S585-Edge-Guide-Foot-1-each-1-8-3-16-1-4-/181150881202?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2a2d6f15b2 -
Heavy Duty Sewing Machine For Leather
tnawrot2 replied to Matchlock's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
I personally don't think it would be the right machine for your sewing, it is a high speed machine that would require a new servo motor and a speed reducer to sew leather, that would be about another $300.00 US. I found and old topic about the 211g166. http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=41831 -

What are you sewing? type of leather and total thickness. You can learn alot about consew feet by going into Ebay and search for consew 206 feet.
