Here's a tutorial I put together on how to make your own coin conchos. There's not much to it really, you just need to learn how to solder, and really that's what this tutorial teaches you. Making coin conchos is sort of incidental once you figure out how to solder. This is something you can master in an afternoon. How-To-Make-Coin-Conchos-2.pdf

Hello - Help! I need someone who can affix ten silver conchos to a new leather belt. The conchos have been cut out of the old belt, which became unusable. New posts would have to be attached to the conchos. Each concho has a slight curve to accommodate a circular waist. The last person who mounted them to a new belt left them raised too high and they caught on the car seat first time I got in, so they have to be "sunk" into the leather. I can supply pictures of the conchos. For what it is worth, this is an old Jeep Collins belt of great sentimental value. Jeep's operation is no longer doing belts or belt repair. Any ideas, most welcome. I live in the DC area but will happily ship. Many thanks. Happy holidays, Mountaineer

I am getting more orders for items lined with spots. I do not do well setting a long line of spots consistently by hand. Is the Weaver Little Wonder the best machine to set spots? Will it set them easily and consistently? I don't mind spending the money, I just want to get the job done with much less trouble than it is now.

I recently acquired a vintage roughout roping saddle in its original condition. It has 3" wide fender adjustment, with the old bolt and blanket pin system. From the marks left, it doesn't appear the stirrups were ever adjusted with the old lacing system, and definitely never Blevins, though lace adjustment may have been replaced with the bolts and pin system shortly after purchase. Naturally, the pins are missing, so the former owner used baling wire in their place. I'm wondering if anyone knows approximately when the pin system was in its zenith to help date the saddle. (I rode in an old JC Higgins in the early 60s that used the bolt and pin adjusters, FWIW.) There are no maker marks that I've yet discovered, though I have not yet pulled back the seat to find any marks that may be on the rawhide tree. I'd like to find replacement pins if anyone knows of any (I remember they used to be sold on cards at tack stores eons ago!), and I'm also trying to find replacement leather rosettes with the old sawtooth edge. Pics attached. Any insights are appreciated. Thanks!

I bout the machine "like new" last March, and it still is...I used it only twice to practice stitching a belt, but then life kinda got hectic and never got around to using it again. Then, from Texas, I moved to Alabama and the machine has been stored this whole time...and yes, It is fully assembled, you can see it run and test it out before purchase. Ok, as for price....I have 3 options for you to consider... 1. $2700, my price of the machine INCLUDING my whole investment of merchandise for my attempted leather business (lol), which values at approx. $3500-$4000 at least..ALL purchased from Tandy Leather......THIS consists of NEW HUGE spools of thread*, NEW dyes and some used bottles of different color dyes, conditioner/gloss, NEW tools (multiple size punches, riveting kits, jewel setters, marker, hand carver, etc) , NEW conchos, jewels, eyelets, NEW belt buckles, LOTS of NEW UNUSED RAW leather belts, NEW belt loops AND tips, NEW packages of daubbers, 3/4" ALPHABET LETTER Leather punch set, guides, and maybe something I'm missing but whatever it is, its included! lol 2. $2500, price of the machine, spools of thread, and I will allow you to pick a few other things you might immediately need...To be discussed 3. $2250 machine only, and yes, the thread...I wouldn't want to sell you a machine without AT LEAST having that to get started *If I cannot find the thread at that moment, I WILL send it to you...Off hand, at this very moment, I can't recall where it is stored but I do have them Please consider these options and let me know how you feel, I do want to let it go, for someone else to use and benefit from so once you contact me, we can talk and see what will better accommodate each other because I have other business venture plans as well love... thank you for your time! Hope to speak with you soon!!! #GodBless

Greetings everyone. I am looking for a source for these conchos. They are relatively thin, stamped antique nickel silver, most likely from New Mexico. The ones I need are 1", 1 1/4" and 1 1/2" with screw backs, different patterns. I used to get them from Argent Express but I just can't find a supplier for them now. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and, keep carvin"!

My daughter asked if I could make her a belt, so to the leather store we went. Would you expect anything less as I said she could pick anything she wanted:) I was not expecting it to be $80-100 to make a belt(that was elite pricing). Used light weight saddle skirting(12-13oz) with deertan cowhide lining, nice substantial belt. Been a little while since I posted anything….. What do y'all think????? Allan

Hello, I am using conchos snaps on a notebook for the first time. I am using a screw back concho that is attached to the female part of the snap. After installing, there is a big gap between the strap with the concho and the notebook. I'm wondering if I did something wrong, or used the wrong hardware? It just seems like there shouldn't be such a big gap between the strap and the notebook. The pictures aren't the best but hopefully they show the problem clearly enough. I would appreciate any feedback. Bob
