  4. Hey everyone! I have my finally obtained my clicker and its time to try making my own dies. Is there anyone in the San Francisco Bay Area that has a rule bender that I may try out or knows of a place I can learn a bit about the process? Thanks so much for any leads! -Paul
  5. When one of my hobbies demand a tool my other hobby skills come to the rescue. Starting out in leatherwork I may not have the money to have fancy equipment but I do have the means to build what I need. Maybe someday I may get into selling more leather creations but for now, I am just preparing in case I do get serious in the future by having fun building cool things now. The die bender is very simple and works well. Using Autodesk Inventor software I worked out a functioning model to build into a tables surface and a handle to push downward to counterforce any table movement that it may cause. I already have an idea to make a different version that will be able to change out the bending points (whatever they are called) and stay out of the way of the bending steel rule on itself by making most of the mechanism under the surface of the table like a few commercial designs out there. The manual clicker press (pictured below) I made after a mini hydraulic press I saw online. Made some improvements by welding the joints solid instead of nuts and bolts (nobody ever takes them apart) for better rigidity and with tighter tolerances on the sliding parts so the press works smooth and solid. Still, need a few tweaking on both machines but overall they were a success for my needs. I would not recommend anyone asking me to make one for them because you can purchase the same class of tools in the open market for the same cost of what I would charge to make plus, the shipping cost. That said, in material cost, the press was estimated 40$-50$ and the die bender was built from scrap I had laying around. I am always open to suggestions and ideas for DIY projects like this that starving artisans like myself can benefit.
  6. Has anyone ever modified a manual turret punch to be used as a clicker for leather, rather than punching holes in steel? I can get a working turret punch cheap locally and was just wondering if anyone’s done this before? Pic attached
  7. Looking to sell my tippmann 1500 with the actuator tank attachment and a really nice heavy duty custom table on casters that was built for it. Upgraded to an atom press recently which is why im selling this one off. Great clicker and OSHA compliant. Looking to get $3200. Im located in Miami, FL. Willing to ship but all the details have to be worked out. I'd imagine it would cost around +- $700 to ship. If you have your own forwarded set up even better.
  8. Has anyone used an unplugged hydraulic t-shirt heat press as an alternative to steel rule die clickers?

  10. Does anyone in the Houston, Texas area have a clicker press that you would rent? I would prefer to have something with a swing arm, to make die placement more accurate. I have 150 notebook covers to make and would LOVE to make my life easier! Thanks! Tyler Newberry Nice Custom Goods www.nicecustomgoods.com Instagram.com/nicecustomgoods
  11. I bought this from Weaver a month ago and unfortunately it isn't what I need to do the job. It has maybe 40 clicks total on it. Literally got it out of the box, set it up, clicked and realized it isn't going to do it - what I'm cutting is way too narrow and the die won't eject the slugs. So, my loss is your gain. It's all back in the box and ready to ship. You basically get a like new clicker with all the original stuff that came with it. I did mount a back stop on the clicking pad to align my work, so there are 4 very small holes (less than 1/8" diameter each). How does $900 plus actual shipping costs sound? Or you can pick it up in Toledo, Ohio. Call me or send me a message - Jesse (419) nine 57-402one I have several pictures but there isn't much to show - its a like new clicker press. If you want to see them just ask and I'll happily send.

  13. Hello all, I am looking for a good quality hand heat embosser. I emboss mostly vegetable tanned lamb nappa and camel leather. I need something with which I can emboss initials. I bought one from Hong Kong and it was flimsy and far too long. Anything US made or european made if there is such a thing would be ideal. Thank you in advance. L
  14. Have these two dies I'm looking to sell. Bought these in February from Tippmann Industrial. Very new and very sharp. Had two of these sets made by accident and couldnt return them. Some examples of the products made with the help of these dies. $95 Shipped for the pair or $50 each http://imgur.com/a/z63TT http://imgur.com/e4P1OmE
  15. Hello. I have both vegetable and chrome tanned leather. What is the best way of embossing/de bossing both using the same dies/embosser. I have limited funds so can't afford two seperate machines.
  16. I wanted to know if anyone has had successful and pleasurable dealings with a die manufacturer. I don't want/need to buy a clicker, but instead would like to simply use my mallet. I'm not certain as to if there is a different kind of die I would need because of this. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
  17. Hi Does anyone out there have a clicker with some spare time that I could use? Willing to pay for the time.. Thanks!
  18. Hello, I am wondering if anyone knows where to buy a spring snap die set that fits into the Tandy handpress or Weaver Heritage footpress? The spring snaps or glove snaps I am using are the Tandy kind so they are a bit different than Universal or others. Thanks!
  19. Hello, We are looking for gifts for groomsmen in our wedding and want to give them each a custom wallet. On the front of the wallet, we would like the embossed outline of the Colorado flag (see picture below), with thicker lines than in the picture and a dark stain to highlight the pattern. On the lower right inside corner, we would like to emboss each groomsman's initials. We tried another vendor for this design and were disappointed, the Colorado flag outline was barely visible on the front. The wedding date is this year, April 26 and we would need 6 wallets total. We are looking to spend about $60 per wallet, but price is negotiable. Thank you, Joanne and Jonathan Bacharach
  20. Being an avid gamer I couldn't help myself. Quick explanation for non gamers, In Dungeons and Dragons, the player guides his character through a story, a well played game can resemble a novel. The players roll various die to determine a random number to resolve actions in the game... I hope this makes sense, Anyway, one of the most reviled die in the game is the 4 sided die, this little pyramid of death has hidden in shag carpets and damaged geek feets for years. So, this is a 4" leather 4 sided die, I hope you guys like it, I had a ball making it. There are several other unusual dice in the game and I am going to try to reproduce them over the next few weeks Thanx Geo
  21. I am looking for either Lucris or Weaver benchtop hand clicker. If shipping is not available I will travel anywhere to pick up. (tons of frequent flyer miles). Cash is ready and waiting. Dan
  22. Hi all, been looking around here for a couple of weeks and learning a ton, thanks for all the contributors! My first project is making key fobs. I have manually cut them up to this point and just came across a local company that makes steel ruled dies (AC Steel Rule). I have designed a 4"x 4.5" die that will cut 3 fobs at one time (each is 4"x1.5" with a 1/4" hole, all 3 share a long edge). Question is to but an arbor press or a shop press... I feel that the arbor press will be easier to operate (and faster be I am the unassisted power source) than the shop press but my concern is that a 1 ton harbor freight arbor press may not offer enough physics to cut the 6-8oz veg tanned leather. Any thoughts are appreciated!
  23. Hello, I am about to get a die cut from Texas Custom Dies. I am having them put stitching slots in the die for me to save some time on my end. Usually I use a diagonal shaped 4 prong punch to cut my stitching slots. However TCM is not able to put diagonal slots in their dies. They can only put horizonal or vertical ones in. I am wondering which is better and what are some of the issues with either I may not know of? I still want the nice diagonal looking saddle stitch, but not sure which will have the better effect. The photo below should explain it better. Thanks for the help! Evan
  24. Hello, I am about to purchase the Texas Custom Dies Air Run clicker press, but I was wondering if anyone here can post a short video of it working? Maybe upload a quick iphone video of you using it for a few seconds. I don't fully understand how fast it works or what is happening. I do have the photos for it already, but video would be great! Or if you have a manula run one, that video would be great too! Thanks for the help!
